James Weir recaps Farmer Wants A Wife 2022 | the reunion

A day after the finale of Farmer Wants A Wife, something dramatic that happened after the big decisions has been revealed. James Weir recaps.

Revelations come out during the Farmer Wants A Wife reunion.

One of Farmer Wants A Wife’s success stories is rocked by the revelation of a kiss with another woman when all the couples gather for a reunion on Tuesday night, while one of the other farmers goes and blindsides us by revealing he’s now kinda-sorta no longer actually a farmer.

A farmer on Farmer Wants A Wife who ends up quitting farming is not the narrative we signed up for. It’d be like if, at the end of Love And Thunder, Thor quit and became an accountant. Or if, at the end of Married At First Sight, a contestant quit selling teeth whitening lasers and got ... well, a job.

Either way, it’s a twist that’s legitimately more shocking than the kiss that everyone’s pretending to freak out about.

One month has passed since our farmers chose their ladies and we’re checking in to see if they’re still together or if the guys have been sent off to the saleyards. More importantly, will Australia’s favourite wingwoman Sam Armytage make one final appearance on this show? Hint: Heartbreak is imminent.

We’ll cut to the chase and whiz over the boring details. Farmer Will is still with Jess and they admit they haven’t spent a single day apart. Boo! Ugh, romantically-content people are so arrogant.

Next is Harry. He’s still with Tess – and there’s a small part of us that hopes he’ll admit resentment is building because she’s making him do long-distance while she finishes uni on the Gold Coast. But then he goes and blindsides us: he’s ditching his farm to go eat Acai bowls on the GC.

“It looks like I’ll do a bit of a cheeky gap year to the Gold Coast for 12 months,” he grins. “A gap year from the farm.”

And just like that, the wholesome Farmer Wants A Wife has turned into every other reality dating show, with contestants moving to the Gold Coast.

“I have looked into possibly finding a job on a farm up there,” he adds.

Sure, Harry. We believe you. But we also won’t be surprised if you pop up on our Instagram feeds selling weird powdered supplements from non-approved vitamin brands.

We’re so flabbergasted that Farmer Harry is no longer actually a farmer that we’re barely even paying attention when Farmer Ben rocks up to the couch to solemnly reveal the rocky patch he has been enduring with Leish.

Usually on this show, rocky patches arise when the city girls move to the farm and don’t understand why they can’t get same-day delivery from The Iconic. But Ben and Leish’s issues go deeper.

He says he recently made a brave admission to Leish. We rack our brains about what it could be. Did he reveal that he pronounces the word “girls” as “gewls”?

No. She already knows that’s how he mispronounces it. The revelation is that he’d kissed runner-up Kiani during the competition. … Ya know, as per the rules of the show.

“There’s no perfect relationship and there’s always challenges,” he blinks away tears as he explains it all to us. “And I think the biggest challenge was I did have to be honest with Leish. I [told her] I was kissing Kiani the day before I told her I loved her.”

At first our reaction is: “ … And?”

But Ben continues to be distraught. He’s ashamed.

“She was obviously upset and it was hard. And it put her mind in a bit of a spin,” he says.

We cut to flashback footage of him telling her the news on the patio.

“I’ve got no words but I’m sorry that it happened because I do love you so very much,” he says, ashen-faced. “I’d hope that, moving forward, our connection basically outweighs what has happened.”

Leish acts like this is a complete slap to the face. How dare Ben kiss one of the five other girls he was contractually dating!

“I think I just need some time,” she sighs.

Then she lurches up off the cane day bed to go pack her belongings and head back to Brisbane.

“Right now, I’m unsure … I’m a bit numb,” she tells us while filming a piece-to-camera near a hay bale. The sun is setting and it really helps illuminate her variety of disappointed facial expressions. “I’m very hurt. Is it really love if that is what you can just go and do?”

The face of disappointment.
The face of disappointment.

Back on the reunion stage, the host Natalie Gruzlewski goes full Ricki Lake and brings Leish out from a back room.

Throw a chair!

“It was a bit of a difficult conversation hearing that he had a pretty strong connection with Kiani,” Leish tells us, again surprised that the guy she met on a dating show was dating five other women whom she was living with in a dormitory.

But she seems to have gotten over it. After all, they’re still together. Or maybe she’s not over it and the resentment is just slowly building. All we know is, we’ve spent an hour watching this reunion only to be ghosted by Samantha Armytage. That’s the true heartbreak.
