Jack Wilson’s budgie smugglers almost eclipsed the Ninja Warrior finale

IT’S been the most intense TV grand final of the year. But one Ninja Warrior contestant’s revealing costume almost revealed too much.

THE most intense grand final to air on Aussie TV all year was almost overshadowed on Tuesday night by a pair of budgie smugglers.

As 21 contestants battled it out to take home the title of champion on Channel Nine’s Ninja Warrior, Australia yelled and grimaced in front of television screen as athletes tried to make it through three stages of the brutal course.

And then viewers winced again when they copped an eyeful of Jack Wilson in his speedos.

The 24-year-old Queenslander has been a crowd favourite throughout the series and was always easy to spot on the obstacle course thanks to his Aboriginal flag budgie smugglers.

But well-placed cameras during Tuesday night’s finale provided us with a next level viewing experience as the marathon runner scrambled through the obstacle course in stage one.

First, he did the usual stuff. He paraded in front of the screaming audience and swung on some ropes.

Delightful.

Mmmmm.

Moving through the course, he jumped off a trampoline and then battled the rope hang. This is where things got intimate — some viewers shielding their eyes and others pressing pause and replaying the footage.

While the fear of certain body parts popping out might impact the performance of other athletes, it only encouraged Wilson.

He scooted up the chimney and completed stage one with 27 seconds to spare.

It was a mix of excitement and relief for the show’s commentator Freddy Flintoff, who couldn’t help but note the near wardrobe malfunction and the view it provided.

“As you were going (through) a few of the obstacles on the big screen, I know why your nickname is Willie,” he joked.

Viewers also took to social media to comment on the eyeful.
