‘It’s mental’: Sophie Monk addresses rumours she’s split with Stu Laundy

ARE they or aren’t they? Sophie Monk sets the record straight on her and Stu Laundy’s relationship, admitting she wasn’t prepared for the post-Bachelorette scrutiny.

SOPHIE Monk has addressed ongoing rumours of a split between herself and Stu Laundy, admitting the situation is “mental”.

Rumours of a breakup have plagued the Bachelorette and her chosen beau since the finale aired in October, with a number of fans suggesting the couple were staging couple shots for the cameras.

Speaking to Nova’s Chrissie, Sam and Browny, the star admitted she hadn’t been totally prepared for the post-show scrutiny.

“I didn’t know what I was in for but at the same time I’ve lived this my whole life anyway. I’ve never really had a private life that I’ve kept private anyway,” she told the radio hosts.

Monk, who’s just been announced as the host of Nine’s new series Love Island, added the rumours about her and Laundy’s breakup are “mental”.

“Every day, it’s mental. It did [bother me] at the beginning but now it doesn’t,” she said.

“Every day is something different and because I travel and work all the time you can’t always be together. There will be another story that we’ve broken up as soon as I go and do another job, to be honest. You’ve just got to roll with it. I guess at least people are interested.”

Even if Monk and Laundy do break up at some point, don’t expect to ever see her on The Bachelorette for round two. “I wouldn’t do it again, plus I would look like a bit of a tool, too ... bit of a desperado.”

Last month, wealthy publican Laundy opened up about his relationship with the former Bardot singer, insisting there was no talk yet of future plans.

“Realistically, in simple terms I have been dating Soph for a couple of months,” Laundy told The Daily Telegraph.

“What sort of couple who have been dating that long get asked walking down the street about kids, marriage, the future?

“It is very early days. There are no future plans, we are just a couple starting out in a relationship and very happy with each other. It is a pressure cooker. You need a little perspective.”
