What you need to know about I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! contestant Luke Jacobz
Here’s everything you need to know about I’m A Celebrity contestant, actor and TV presenter Luke Jacobz.
If you thought Luke Jacobz looked familiar when he entered the African jungle in the first episode of I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! you were right.
Jacobz, 37, has been a regular on Australian television having stared in some of our most iconic dramas, including as Angelo Rosetta on Home And Away, Patrick Brewer on McLeod’s Daughters, Zac Croft on Heartbreak High and as host of the The X-Factor Australia.
But this one is different.
When news.com.au spoke to Jacobz last month he admitted he hadn’t seen a single episode of the Network 10 reality show and that he wanted “to keep it that way”.
“They asked me if I was interested and I asked if it was the one where they go camping in the bush and they said yeah,” Jacobz said.
But one thing Jacobz isn’t doing is using the show as a quick stint to enhance his career, instead revealing the far more serious reason for signing up.
Four years ago the star’s life changed forever when his father John Ashwood died after a short battle with cancer.
“I lost my dad to brain cancer in 2015 and it was something that happened really, really, suddenly,” Jacobz told news.com.au.
“It overtook and it just completely changed mine and my family’s life, because it was just all of a sudden everything was fantastic and then it just turned around.”
Making Carrie’s Beanies 4 Cancer his charity of choice, Jacobz is prepared to do anything to raise money for the cause, even going as far as saying he will eat “whatever they tell me to”.
The star had a rather unusual way of gearing up for the show, revealing to news.com.au he had done nothing during the Christmas and New Year’s break in preparation.
“I’d rather just go, ‘You know what, let’s just enjoy this time off now’, and then I know it’s going to very much change over the next month or two,” Jacobz said.

Having enjoyed success on reality TV, winning season eight of Dancing with the Stars, Jacobz hopes he can replicate his success in the ballroom by being crowned king of the jungle.
