Newest I’m A Celeb campmate Tottie Goldsmith has opened up about being found with drugs at a music festival in 2011, breaking down in tears as she recalled family friend Derryn Hinch’s cruel comments about her on radio.
Speaking to the star-packed cast in tonight’s episode, Goldsmith said she “lost everything” after the scandal, going on to describe confronting media personality and politician Hinch for taking a nasty swipe at her amid the storm.
“It wasn’t hers like it wasn’t Lindsay Lohan’s,” Goldsmith recalled Hinch — who she’d known since childhood — saying on his radio show about the cocaine found in her possession which she claimed wasn’t hers.
“I ran into Derryn Hinch at a restaurant and I thought ‘I have to say something to this man’,” Goldsmith told the group.
“I walked over and my legs were weak … I said to him ‘You know me Derryn, why did you do that, have you ever seen me do drugs?’ and he just put his head down and I said ‘Shame on you’,” she recalled of throwing the veteran media personality’s own catchphrase back at him.
Goldsmith made headlines in 2011 when a small bag of cocaine was found in her makeup bag at a Portsea music festival, which she claimed belonged to a male companion.
The Chantoozies singer, actress and niece of Olivia Newton-John said while the unnamed man admitted to authorities that he was responsible for the drugs and no charges were laid, her name was leaked to the press which caused a number of her gigs to subsequently dry up.
“They slammed me, not only in Australia, in America, in England,” she said of the fallout.
“I got trolled to the point they were saying ‘You don’t deserve to be a mother’,” she added, explaining that she urged the man to come forward and clear her name to no avail.
