Jess Eva reveals gross find after I'm a Celeb

Triple M radio host Jess Eva has discovered a disturbing side effect from her time in the jungle, and it’ll make you want to clean out your ears pronto.

Speaking on Moonman in The Morning on Friday, Eva recalled experiencing hearing troubles during her appearance on the reality show — but it wasn’t until she was out of the campsite that she discovered the root of the issue.

As it turns out, the former The Block star’s hearing loss was thanks to dead bugs that had lodged themselves in both ears after a swim in the “manky” lake located deep in the NSW outback where filming took place towards the end of last year.

“When I was in the jungle my ears started to hurt and I went to the medic a bit and then over time it got worse and worse to the point where I couldn’t sleep, there was so much pain,” Eva shared with co-hosts Lawrence Mooney and Chris Page.

“I reckon I lost about 30 – 40 per cent of my hearing on Monday/Tuesday, I could hear ringing and a lot of pressure, so obviously what was in there was already dead, but it was getting worse and worse,” she explained.

“I went to the doctor Wednesday … and she flushed it out, and when she flushed it out there were these little bugs with wings,” she said, describing the critters as like “miniature dogs with wings”.

“I don’t know what they are,” she said, adding that the bugs were taking up space in both ears.

Taking to Instagram with a photo of the pesky flying bugs, the radio personality and mum-of-two wrote to followers: “Getting jungle bugs out of your ears be like...... swipe right for the little bugger! I’m going to call him inme because he was in-me ear. Sorry Norm I can hear again, better say nice things about me.”

“I think I might’ve got it from the pool. There’s a big lake pool that gets a little bit manky sometimes with bugs in it,” she pondered elsewhere in this morning’s chat.

Eva’s revelation comes amid criticism of this year’s instalment of I’m A Celeb from fans deeming the challenges “too far”.

On Thursday night, viewers were shocked and appalled by an icy water stunt that left four celebrities needing urgent medical attention.

Four of the celebrities, (Grant Denyer, Jack Vidgen, Travis Varcoe and Pettifleur Berenger), had to receive medical attention after taking part in a nine-minute challenge where they had to swim to the bottom of a tank filled with ice water and continuously pump a lever.

Singer Jack Vidgen broke down in tears after the stunt and told medics: “I’m in a lot of pain. I can’t move my hands. I’m just really scared.”

Denyer, who screamed to medics, “Get us out!” as soon as the challenge ended, told the Huffington Post that the challenge affected him for days.

“It actually hurt a lot to the point where medics were called for all four of us in the challenge. They were deeply concerned for our wellbeing because we’re at the point where our organs were getting close to shutting down,” he said.

It came just a week after viewers were left horrified by a challenge that saw Toni Pearen being bitten on the face three times by snakes.

Pearen was in tears and bleeding from the face after the challenge and was attended to by medics.
