Jamie Lynn Spears quits I’m A Celeb filming in NSW
Britney Spears’ sister has become the second celeb to flee the Aussie bush on “medical grounds” during filming of I’m A Celeb.
Britney Spears’ younger sister Jamie Lynn has become the second contestant on this season of the UK’s I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here, filmed in bushland in northern NSW, to quit the show on medical grounds.
The 32-year-old was seen breaking down in tears on a number of occasions on the most recent episode of the show – despite managing to settle in after a rocky start.
The news came just days after Grace Dent quit, again on medical grounds, and controversial contestant Nella Rose was exempt from yesterday’s trial.
A show spokesperson said: “Jamie Lynn Spears has left I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! on medical grounds.
“She’s been a fantastic campmate who has triumphed at trials and bonded well with her fellow celebrities.”
Viewers of the show reacted to the announcement on social media, one writing: “They are dropping like flies this year.”
“Medical grounds? There’ll be nobody left soon,” said another.
“Bit of a nightmare year for this show,” noted TV critic Scott Bryan.
Jamie’s campmates have been told that she has left the jungle and won’t be returning.
Her last appearance will air on the next episode of the show.
Britney’s sister struggled in the camp when she first arrived because she missed her children so much.
The Zoey 101 actress is mum to two daughter’s Maddie, 15, and Ivey, five.
She had already threatened to walk a number of times as she struggled with camp life – the first time just three days into the jungle (aka bushland outside Murwillumbah, New South Wales).
On last night’s show she broke down on a couple of occasions after getting to enjoying one cube of chocolate.
Frustrated she told Danielle Harold: “That little square of chocolate p*****d me off.”
Fellow contestant Tony Bellew – who has grown close to Jamie – also weighed in on the situation, stating: “She’s just getting frustrated, she misses her kids.
“She’s so far away from home. It’s good to just go and ask someone how they’re doing. Just look out for each other. Everyone should have that attitude with everybody.”
Prior to that Jamie had said she has discovered a different side to herself since being in the jungle.
She has opened up about her famous sister and also discussed her daughter’s near death experience.
Jamie insisted that everything was fine between herself and Britney – after the pop superstar branded her a “little b****” in her recent book.
She told Sam Thompson: “She’s (Britney) a good big sister, she is. Yeah, I love her … Me and her throw down. The world’s seen that.
“I’ve learned to stop talking about it publicly, but you know what, families fight. Listen, we just do it better than most.”
Since Grace quit on Monday after a series of gruelling challenges and nine days of tough camp life, conditions have worsened.
It left camp feeling desperate, and The Sun told how bosses feared more stars could follow Grace’s example and quit.
Food critic Grace Dent is already back in the UK after her shock exit.
