I’m a Celebrity star Ash Williams’ lawyer says the comedian will fight claims he screenshotted topless photos of a woman during phone sex.

I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here star Ash Williams arrived home from filming in the jungle to police allegations he took sexual photos of a woman without her consent, his lawyer says.

Mr Williams, 38, will fight a charge of intentionally recording an intimate image without consent after the woman complained to Marrickville police in Sydney’s inner west late last year.

The comedian did not appear at Newtown Local Court on Monday when a police interim apprehended violence order on behalf of the woman was adjourned to meet up with Mr Williams’s criminal charge at the same court next month.

Outside court solicitor Charles Abbott said Mr Williams denied any wrongdoing and the images were only seen by his client and the woman.

Ash Williams has vowed to defend the allegations in court.

“He’s defending the charge,” he said. “I think he’s a bit shocked.”

The images at the centre of the allegations are understood to be up to three pictures of a topless woman, showing her face, which were screenshots taken during FaceTime phone sex.

The Sydney man was approached by police on December 18, soon after returning from filming series seven of Channel 10’s reality TV program.

In a statement NSW Police said the woman, who cannot be named, had come forward with the allegations in November last year.

Mr Williams released a statement of his own on Sunday, saying he had been “completely blindsided” by the charge.

“I’m really upset by the ­allegation and I’m distressed about the impact it’s had on members of my family, particularly my mum,” he said.

The matter will return to court on February 1.
