I’m a Celeb 2021: Abbie Chatfield hits back at trolls
I’m a Celeb and Bachelor star Abbie Chatfield has hit back at trolls and haters who were unhappy she was cast on the new reality show.
I’m a Celeb star Abbie Chatfield has hit back at viewers who were unhappy she was cast on the reality show.
Abbie, who appeared on Matt Agnew’s season of The Bachelor in 2019, was one of the nine celebs who entered the jungle in last night’s premiere.
As soon as she appeared on screens, Twitter lit up with a mix of positive and negative reactions.
Look all Iâm saying is Iâm not usually one to watch #ImACelebrityAU but you can bet your bottom DOLLAR that Iâm watching for the queen that is Abbie Chatfield #QUEEN

Not sure I can watch with her in camp as I'm not a fan at all. In fact she irritates the living daylights out of me #ImACelebrityAU pic.twitter.com/wGt9JPFZZr
I want Abbie to take the crown just to annoy all the haters. Absolutely disgraceful how many people are already degrading and being inappropriate towards her. Yaâll just canât stand a confident woman #ImACelebrityAU

Abbie, just because you think you can âput it all out thereâ doesnât mean you should.. there are some thing people just donât need to know.. #ImACelebrityAU

I think part of the reason why I like Abbie is because she's so open. But apparently that makes a lot of people uncomfortable?

I also have no filter (especially when I meet new people) maybe that's why I relate?#ImACelebrityAU
Can already see Abbie is going to be a royal pain in the arse this season. #ImACelebrityAU

So I guess Abbie will get the same treatment Laurina did a few seasons ago right? Bet she too takes it like a champ ð

Contrary to what a few vapid people on here are suggesting, she's actually a good egg. #ImACelebrityAU
Look I have nothing against abbie personally,

Its just she seems and acts like the girls that would bully me at school.
I'm sure this show will try to change my mind but, i say good luck #ImACelebrityAU
Stop giving Abbie airtime. Sheâs so manipulative and all this attention vindicates her atrocious behaviour. #ImACelebrityAU

This season of I’m a Celeb was prerecorded last month, so Abbie was able to see the viewer reaction on social media last night.
On her Instagram story last night, Abbie reacted to all of the tweets, saying: “Half of Twitter hates me, half of Twitter loves me. I see you xxx.”
Abbie, who has been mercilessly trolled on social media since appearing on The Bachelor, also wrote on Instagram: “People on Twitter are so mad, they’re like, ‘get off our screens.’ Babe, you trolled me, you made me.”
Hey hey Abbie Chatfield! Is #ImACelebrityAU going to be a lot? pic.twitter.com/E6kdwPQjSC

Abbie has previously spoken publicly about the vicious comments she’s received on social media in the past couple of years.
In a lengthy post last year, she said she feared for her safety after being receiving death threats online.
After sharing a number of threatening messages, Abbie wrote on Instagram: “F**k you if you’ve ever messaged anyone something even close to this. This is why people commit suicide after being catapulted into the spotlight by a TV show.
“Am I grateful for The Bachelor? Yes! Does ANYTHING anyone does on these shows warrant this? F**K NO. These are just 10 of the messages I’ve saved over the last year. Threats of violence, name calling, threats to my safety and general snide comments still happen a year on.”
She continued: “At one point I was scared to be recognised in public, for fear of my safety. I still get worried when people ask for photos with me that they’re going to say something to hurt me or take a photo with me and joke about me with their friends.
”This isn’t a joke. This isn’t f**king funny and This isn’t fair. I shouldn’t be falling asleep worried someone will break into my apartment and strangle me!”
I’m a Celeb continues on Channel 10 tonight at 7.30pm
