Britney Spears ‘had to be wheeled around’ during Circus tour, Perez Hilton claims

Perez Hilton has revealed shocking details about Britney Spears’ welfare in the aftermath of her infamous 2007 meltdown.

Having an American gossip journalist in the jungle is as juicy as you’d expect.

Renowned US celebrity columnist Perez Hilton entered the I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! camp this week, where he has not wasted time spilling tea on Hollywood A-listers.

Hilton, 41, has already thrown shade at Kim Kardashian, saying the star used him when she was lesser known before unfollowing him on Instagram when she’d made it, as well as detailing his feud with Lady Gaga.

Now, he is seen discussing intimate details about pop princess Britney Spears, in footage obtained by news.com.au.

Perez Hilton is a big gossip in the jungle.

Hilton can be seen telling his I’m A Celeb campmates about the time he toured with Spears in 2009 for her Circus tour, two years after her breakdown when she famously shaved her head.

“I opened Britney’s Circus tour,” Perez told campmates.

“She still wasn’t 100 per cent all there. Like, that tour they would wheel her around everywhere, they’d put her in a cage and wheel her around because she still wasn’t very functional.”

Spears’ public meltdown of 2007 has been a well documented.

The Toxic singer famously shaved her own head in a Los Angeles salon.

In a documentary that aired in November, Britney Spears – Breaking Point, the owner of the salon Esther Tognozzi detailed what happened that night.

Ms Tognozzi revealed that one of the two bodyguards who’d accompanied Spears to the salon repeatedly opened the blinds to let the horde of photographers outside the shop snap pictures of Spears buzzing off her own hair.

According to Ms Tognozzi, Spears arrived at the salon around closing time.

“We were cleaning up and there was a bunch of flashing outside lights and we were wondering, ‘Uh oh, what happened, police, ambulance?’,” she said.

“We looked out and it’s a bunch of white lights flashing and somebody knocked on the door because we always keep the door locked saying: ‘Hey, open the door, Britney Spears wants to come in.’”

“And of course, I said: ‘What for?’ And they proceeded to come in, she sat on my chair, I said, ‘What’s up, can I help you?’ She said, ‘I want to shave my hair off.’”

Ms Tognozzi said she tried to talk Spears out of the stunt to no avail. “I said, ‘No, you don’t,’ (and) she said, ‘Oh yes, I do.’”

“She had two bodyguards, supposedly keeping an eye out to make sure the paparazzi were not getting any pictures and one of them kept opening the blinds,” Ms Tognozzi recalled.

“I had blinds at the side of the salon back then. I had a sliding-glass door and I kept saying, ‘There’s nobody over there, why do you keep opening up the blinds?’ Well, I found out days later why he was opening the blind because a photographer was hiding there to take pictures.”

Spears shaved her own head.

“I tried to talk her out of it and I said, ‘You don’t want to do that, tomorrow is a different day, you’ll feel differently tomorrow, let’s talk about it.’”

Ms Tognozzi says while Spears was in the chair, she was also fielding calls from her own brother, who she’d been slated to meet with before Spears sauntered in. When Ms Tognozzi went to take a call, she says, “By the time I came back to her she had grabbed a buzzer and she was testing to see how it was going to feel or look to buzz her hair.”

She continued, “My phone rang again so, as I’m answering my phone I realise she went into that other room, sat in that chair and buzzed half her hair off.”
