Experts, fans and punters weigh in on who will win The Block
FIVE couples will finally be able to celebrate their hard work when the results of the year’s Block auctions go to air tomorrow night.
IT’S arguably been the toughest - and most controversial - season The Block has ever seen, almost driving the teams to breaking point.
But the five teams that conquered the Blocktagon will finally be able to celebrate their hard work when the results of the auctions air during tomorrow night’s Grand Finale.
And while the results may already be known by small few (after the auctions were held on Saturday), it hasn’t stopped punters and fans speculating about who will take home the win.
Frank Valentic, Managing Director of Advantage Property Consulting and buyer’s advocate on The Block says Shay and Dean are his personal favourites to win.
“We’ve had 150 buyers through here now, and the feedback we’re getting in that Shay and Dean are the best,” Valentic told realestate.com.au.
Valentic’s second favourites are brother and sister duo Luke and Ebony.
“What Luke and Ebony have done is come good at the end. I gave them a bit of advice because they sort of went off on the wrong tangent.
“But Shay and Dean… they have a really crisp apartment.”
As for the dark horses?
“Caro and Kingi are the dark horses, because they’re on the ground floor. It’s not the same as looking out onto nice vistas. People like their views.”
And the punters seem to be thinking along the same lines with their money.
TAB odds have penthouse couple Shay and Dean - not to be confused with penthouse pet Suzi of course! - as the clear winners ahead of Caro and Kingi.
TAB spokesperson Shaun Anderson said more money has been placed on the Newcastle high school sweethearts to win than of all the other couples put together.
“Caro and Kingi were the early favourites but the last few weeks all the interest has been in Shay and Dean,” Mr Anderson told news.com.au. “Needless to say Whitney and Andy have been friendless with punters with only a handful of bets on them”
No suprises that struggling rookies, who announced yesterday they had ended their relationship, are the long outsiders to win at $17.
But fans shouldn’t dismiss the pair altogether, does anyone remember Steve and Chantelle’s surprise win back in 2013?
Property expert Greville Pabst estimates the apartments at 5 Commercial Road, South Yarra will sell for between $1.7 million to $2.15 million each.
The Block finale goes to air tomorrow night at 7.30pm on Nine.
TAB odds:
$1.80 Shay and Dean
$3 Caro and Kingi
$5 Ebony and Luke
$7 Vonni and Suzi
$17 Whitney and Andy
