Celebrity Big Brother: Roxanne Pallett to quit showbiz after false assault allegation

A FORMER soap star calling herself the “most hated girl in Britain” will disappear from the limelight after a disastrous stint in Celebrity Big Brother.

ROXANNE Pallett will disappear from the spotlight after telling pals she wants to quit showbiz following her disastrous stint in Celebrity Big Brother.

In case you haven’t been following the story, former soap star Pallett said Neighbours actor Ryan Thomas “punched her repeatedly” and hit her “four or five times in the ribs” inside the Celebrity Big Brother house. However footage of the incident (which you can watch in the video player above) suggests her accusation was greatly exaggerated.

Pallett demanded that Thomas, 34, be removed from the Celebrity Big Brother House but producers refused. She told several housemates about the “assault” but when they started to question her story Pallett decided to quit the reality TV show.

Pallett laid low after leaving the house but did two tearful TV interviews yesterday in which she apologised for her accusation.

The former Emmerdale actor, 35, called herself the “most hated girl in Britain” and admitted she’s “scared for the future” during an emotional interview with Celebrity Big Brother host Emma Willis yesterday as she addressed the fallout from her claim she was assaulted by Ryan Thomas.

A source exclusively told The Sun Online: “Roxanne will turn her back on showbiz. She understands she’s upset many people and wants to step out of the spotlight to focus on herself.

“She’s not interested in anything to do with fame now and is convinced time away is the best thing for her.”

The former soap star vomited after appearing on The Jeremy Vine Show earlier in the day as the stress of “punchgate” got to her.

Today it was revealed she will not be returning to Emmerdale after she falsely accused Ryan Thomas of assaulting her.

The actor quit the house after hearing crowds booing her name and has faced a furious backlash from viewers and former co-stars who have sprung to Thomas’ defence.

Soap bosses have ruled out a return for Pallett despite a public apology during last night’s episode of Celebrity Big Brother.

A spokesman for Emmerdale said: “There are no plans, nor have there been, to bring back the character of Jo Sugden.”

Pallett’s performances in the soap between 2005 and 2008 drew critical acclaim, and she was involved in a major domestic violence storyline.

Her tearful interview with Celebrity Big Brother host Emma Willis yesterday (which you can watch below) has been called “insincere” and a “publicity stunt” by viewers convinced she only did it for damage limitation.

Fans praised the show’s host for not holding back when she questioned the 35-year-old over the allegations.

Pallett winced and started to cry after Willis challenged her on the statements she made against Thomas.

Willis, 42, said: “You could have ruined him.”

An emotional Pallett replied: “It’s a lot to deal with. I’m the most hated girl in Britain right now. I am scared about the future … I just want to say I’m sorry.”
