TV personality Caitlyn Jenner has finally responded to Ricky Gervais’ Golden Globes ‘joke’, which she didn’t appreciate.

CAITLYN Jenner’s transition to life as a woman has not been without its heartache, but one thing appears to have remained in tact — her sense of humour.

The I Am Cait star responded to superficial questions about her new health and beauty tips as the world’s most high-profile transgender person by quipping: “eat your Wheaties!” - a cheeky reference to her former life as US Olympic gold medallist Bruce Jenner, whose face was plastered on the cereal box when the decathlete became a household name soon after the 1976 Montreal Games.

Speaking at the season two launch of her E! documentary series, in front of the TV Critics Association (TCA) at Pasadena’s Langham Hotel, the 66-year-old also took Golden Globes host, Ricky Gervais to task over his joke at her expense during this week’s awards show.

The controversial British comic and actor referred to Jenner in his opening monologue, reassuring his celebrity audience he’d be nicer than in previous years.

“I’ve changed,” he said, “not as much as Bruce Jenner, obviously” before going on to praise for the transgender activist for breaking down barriers, only to mention Jenner’s car accident, which killed one person in February 2015.

Gervais drew groans from the Globes guests and online criticism when he finished the joke: “she didn’t do a lot for women drivers, but you can’t have everything.”

The Office star has since refused to apologise for the joke, despite outraged calls for him to do so, stating: “suggesting a joke about Caitlyn Jenner is automatically transphobic is like suggesting a joke about Bill Cosby is automatically racist. You have every right to be offended. Just don’t cry when no one cares.”

Asked to respond to being the butt of Gervais’ joke, Jenner told the TCA: “on Ricky, I’m going to call the Globes and see if they need a new host for next year and that will solve that problem.”

Meanwhile, organisers of Sydney’s Mardi Gras might want to put together a pitch to invite Jenner and her E! documentary crew to the annual event, after the former Keeping Up With The Kardashians star flagged her interest in taking her series and its equality message global on an “international road trip.”

Season two, which premieres 1pm Monday March 7 on E! (with an encore at 9.30pm), follows Jenner and her growing friendship group of Candis Cayne, Chandi Moore and 18-year-old newly transitioned teenager, Ella Giselle on a bus tour across America, confronting the big issues facing the country’s trans community.
