Block couple make shock cheating allegation live on air

Controversial Block couple Mitch and Mark made a serious allegation live on radio that’s left their fellow contestants stunned.

Block couple Mitch and Mark waded into controversy once more during Tuesday’s episode, when they were shown levelling cheating allegations at fellow contestants Jesse and Mel during a live radio appearance.

The couple — who earlier this season accused the show’s host Scott Cam of homophobia — made the allegations during an appearance on Triple M with former Block contestant and radio host Jess Eva.

Jess asked the pair, both renovation veterans, if they had any advice for their fellow contestants as they all worked to turn a dilapidated St Kilda hostel into five luxury townhouses.

“Start designing houses that are more appropriate for the market, guys. You’re making it too easy for us,” said Mitch — much to Jess’ delight.

The couples were in the middle of an “upswapping” challenge when the interview took place, each couple given a $1000 McCafe voucher they then had to swap for items of increasing value.

Jess asked Mitch and Mark if they thought contestant Jesse — a real estate agent and this season’s smoothest operator — could turn on the charm and upswap his way to a luxury apartment. Jesse had been shown earlier in the episode hitting up his real estate contacts to see if anyone could help him out.

“Oh, that must be the Saint Moritz that he’s copied his apartment from?” asked Mitch, feigning confusion.

Mark makes some pretty damning allegations.

“Can he swap for an apartment if he’s already copied the apartment, so he’s blown their deal?” he continued.

The Saint Moritz is a new 130-apartment St Kilda development from luxury developer Gurner, situated just up the road from The Block.

All the other Block couples were listening into Mitch and Mark’s radio appearance — except for Jesse and Mel, who were out shopping. All were stunned by what they’d heard.

The contestants were stunned at the serious allegation made on live radio. “Oh my god, I can’t believe he’s just said that. When you know the people talking and you know the people they’re talking about, it wasn’t really nice to listen to,” said Tess. “Like, this is just going to blow up.”

Tess and Luke were shocked at what they heard on air.

That it does — in Wednesday night’s episode, Mitch and Mark produce some hard evidence they say proves their allegations, while Jesse and Mel turn on the show’s producers, claiming they’re pitting the couples against each other.

The Block airs 7:30pm Mondays to Wednesdays and 7pm Sundays.
