SHE was an early favourite to win Richie Strahan’s heart on The Bachelor — but despite early chemistry, Megan Marx reportedly gave Richie the flick and left him “devastated”.

New Idea reports the 27-year-old decided to bow out of the competition after she decided the 31-year-old Rope Access Technician wasn’t being very genuine.

“She [Megan] admitted she didn’t think Richie was being true to himself by keeping drama queen Keira [Maguire] in for ratings,” an insider told the magazine.

“She just felt the whole process wasn’t very organic, so she followed her heart and bowed out.”

The magazine reports she told the remaining girls her decision in the form of a handwritten letter.

While only four episodes of the latest series have gone to air, many fans tipped Megan to be the girl who would win Richie’s heart. With both of them being from Western Australia and having a keen interest in the outdoors, it seemed like a perfect match.

After Richie took the blonde beauty on an elaborate crane date that suspended them over the ocean, the pair locked lips in a passionate kiss.

“He was absolutely devastated,” the source added of Megan’s decision. “It was the last thing he expected, and he felt a strong connection with her. They were so similar on so many levels that he couldn’t help imagine a future together.”
