Bachelor couple slam show: ‘Production over humanity’
BRETT was booted off Bachelor in Paradise when his real relationship status was exposed. Now he and his fellow Bach star girlfriend are on the attack.
ELIMINATED Bachelor in Paradise contestant Brett Moore delivered the first big drama of the season in last night’s episode as he dodged persistent questions about his relationship status in the outside world.
In explosive scenes, Moore was shown arguing with the reality show’s producers on camera, as they insisted he give them a straight answer about whether or not he has a girlfriend.
Moore didn’t get a rose — and bowed out of the usual post-eviction press commitments today — but did slam the reality show in a lengthy Instagram post.
“IMAGINE: you were in the really early days of dating someone and after a hectic year filming two TV series’ — along with some personal travel — leaving little time together since meeting,” he wrote.
“IMAGINE: you were both asked to then go on a show in Fiji, sip cocktails with your mates from the last two series and, more importantly, spend time with THE girl your interested in, all the while being paid.
“Then imagine you arrived on the island first, her contract only then to be ripped up; leaving it to look like you went on a dating show without her.
“Imagine then airing it to Australia portraying you as a s**t bloke and as always, forever putting production over humanity, despite never changing our story that we had being seeing each other in the lead up and couldn’t wait to be reunited in Fiji.
“Now you have ‘reality’ TV.”
Moore’s girlfriend, fellow Bach alumni Stephanie Boulton, stuck up for him in an interview on Kyle and Jackie O on KIIS FM this morning.
Boulton, who appeared on Matty J’s season of The Bachelor, confirmed that the pair were in fact an item — and claimed that producers knew this from the start.
“I actually got the phone call first to go on Paradise. I said no — they already knew about me and Brett. I said, ‘Nah, me and Brett have been hanging out and it’s going well, why would I?’” she told Kyle and Jackie O.
10 minutes later Brett texted me and said he’d got a call from Bachelor in Paradise. I was like, ‘Sorry? I just told them no because of you.’ They were interested in him going on the show. So I texted [producers] back and said, you know me and Brett have been hanging out but it’s an awesome opportunity, so I’m keen too,” she claimed.
Both were cast, Boulton claimed, by producers who knew they’d been “dating and hanging out”.
That’s certainly a contradiction to what viewers saw on last night’s episode, with a producer angrily telling Moore that to be in a relationship was “against the whole process of the show”.
“He went on the island and this whole thing blew up. I think they just wanted their first drama, so they fixed him up,” said Boulton.
While Brett got the boot in the first rose ceremony, Boulton claims producers were still keen on bringing her on board — with one condition.
“They called me when he got kicked off and said, if you’re coming on to the island, Brett’s not there — will you still be willing to kiss people? I said no. If Brett’s not there, what’s the point?” she asked.
“We could’ve done Channel 10 a favour and had a confirmed love affair on there. Nobody else really knew we were dating, except for Tara.”
When contacted by news.com.au, a spokesperson from WB (the production company that makes the show) said that Moore and Boulton had changed their stories during the initial casting process for the show.
“Being single and available to find love is a prerequisite for being on Bachelor in Paradise. Brett and Steph were originally contacted as individuals but said they were seeing each other, so we wished them the best and moved on. They both then separately contacted us saying they were now in a position to go on the show, we had no reason to doubt what they said was true,” said the spokesperson.
“Once it was confirmed during filming that Brett and Stephanie were actually dating, Stephanie was no longer eligible for the show.”
Speaking to Kyle and Jackie O this morning, Boulton lamented the fact that her boyfriend “came out looking like a bit of a douche” — and indeed, viewers were not on-side as he left the show last night:
Did no one tell Brett and Steph that they can probably buy tickets to Fiji for like $100 return? Like dudes, just go on a holiday. You are clearly not smart enough to pull a con like this off. #BachelorInParadiseAU

Is it *sounding* like Tara thought Brett & Steph were a producer plant on #BachelorInParadiseAU as an orchestrated HEA? Otherwise ... why the heck would she be so shocked that a taken guy should be booted???
