‘That hurt’: Survivor’s brutal Australian first
“That hurt.” One Survivor contestant just exited in a manner so shocking even Jonathan LaPaglia had to call it out. WARNING: Spoilers.
WARNING: Survivor spoilers below.
Australian Survivor contestant Simon Mee suffered perhaps the biggest blindside in the show’s history in Tuesday night’s episode, voted out by his tribemates while having two coveted immunity idols in his pocket.
It was a rough end for the Survivor superfan, who just never seemed to fathom the possibility that he might be on the chopping block and therefore should play one of his two idols to save himself.
Even some last minute scrambling at tribal council wasn’t enough to shake his confidence. Baden whispered to George and Cara: “Two on Simon. He has two idols,” instructing them to join the plan to oust him.

“You guys want to say something? Sorry Baden, I didn’t mean to interrupt,” said Simon, challenging them to reveal what they were conspiring about – but still didn’t clock the obvious threat to his game.
Still, the 31-year-old Queensland carpenter remained in remarkably good spirits as the votes were read and he realised he was going home, scoring five votes to Dani’s three and Flick’s one.

“Blindside! Well done guys … I must be one of the first people to leave with not one but two idols in my back pocket. That one hurts,” he said as he approached host Jonathan LaPaglia to have his torch snuffed.
“You are correct. For Australian Survivor, you are correct,” LaPaglia told him, before Simon left with a smile and a wave.
In fact, he seemed to take the voting better than former ally Dani, who lashed out moments after it was revealed that she’d scored more votes from her tribemates than she was expecting:
And Dani had a parting message for close friend Simon after helping to orchestrate his downfall: “Hope you forgive me one day.” Ouch.
