Survivor star’s blunder before being voted out: ‘I shouldn’t have said that’

The latest Survivor evictee spoke a little too freely at tribal council, signing their own death warrant in the process. WARNING: Spoilers.

Survivor Australia blows fans away with stunning tribal council

WARNING: Spoilers below

Australian Survivor contestant Nina Twine was voted out during Monday’s episode, leaving just four players left in the game.

Self-described “King” George, Liz, Gerry and Matt are the only players left to battle it out in Sunday’s penultimate episode and next Monday’s finale.

Nina became yet another person defeated as they tried to get the other contestants to turn against George, arguably this season’s best (and most vocal) player.

George has absolutely bulldozed this season with his brilliantly sneaky moves, making it hard to understand why none of his allies have thought to get him out yet.

He’s managed to survive, in part, due to flattery – congratulating those he’s working with on their own gameplay.

Nina brought this up during Monday’s tribal council, as she went down fighting.

Gerry insisted – with George’s backing – that there was no leader in their alliance, and that all of them were making big moves. Nina scoffed at this.

Nina called out Gerry for letting George dictate his gameplay.

“Being instrumental (in making moves) is what I, as a jury member, am going to want to hear. Not just ‘I was told a name and I wrote it down.’ To me, an active leader is running around, making sure the numbers are right … not just at camp, waiting to hear what’s going to happen,” she said, pointedly referring to Gerry.

And then, realising she’d perhaps gone a little too hard: “I shouldn’t have said that, probably.”

Perhaps she was right: the group then voted, with Nina copping three of the five votes.

Nina gave each tribemate a hug as she left, but pulled Liz close as she gave her some advice: To get George out of the game before the finale, because she surely wouldn’t be able to convince the jury to award her the $500,000 prize over him.

The player evicted before Nina, Simon, expressed his frustrations with the state of the game in an exit interview published on Ten’s website on Sunday. He said it had proved impossible to get George’s allies to turn on him.

“He’s such an amazing operator, so to warn everyone about it and see it happen in front of my eyes was extremely frustrating. So many people fell under the rule of King George … I did everything I could to warn everyone,” he said.

“Never being in their alliance, I never got to see the inner workings of it, but seeing the way George was manipulating the newbie players is just so obvious.”
