Survivor star Daisy dishes on ‘those’ romance rumours

Survivor star Daisy says there’s one rather delicate question “so many people” have asked her about her time on the show. Here’s her answer.

It’s the surprising question Daisy Richardson admits she’s been asked a whole lot since her Australian Survivor eviction: Are she and fellow contestant Johnny a couple?

The pair do have an awful lot in common — both single, 20-something country Australians, both lovably ocker and fond of some unusual slang (see Johnny referring to beer as “neck oils” — or Daisy declaring herself a “string of pelican sh*t” when she looked in the mirror for the first time post-Survivor).

Whispers about a possible romance between the two — who spent more than a week together alongside other evicted contestants at a Fijian hotel resort that became Survivor’s “Jury Villa” after being voted out — were fuelled during fellow contestant Simon Black’s radio interview with Nova 100’s Chrissie, Sam & Browny yesterday.

Asked by Chrissie Swan if Daisy and Johnny had been hooking up, Black first insisted he “hadn’t heard any whispers …”

“Yes you have, come on. If I’ve heard rumours then surely you have too,” Swan insisted.

“Their villas are separated by about 1500 metres, so maybe they were sneaking out through the night? They’re both single, they’re both warm blooded,” Black teased.

“I love them as a couple. I LOVE them as a couple,” said Swan.

So do we — so we went straight to the woman herself to find out the truth.

“You know what, so many people have asked me this question — “Am I Mrs Mullet Man?” Daisy told news.com.au.

“The answer is no, unfortunately. John is a good-looking guy, I’ll give him that. But the thing about John and I is, we are so bloody similar. We used to banter at each other so much that it would just get personal, and we’d need to take a few minutes and cool off and then come back to each other. I love Johnny boy dearly, but there’s no kissing in the palm trees I’m afraid,” she revealed.

Daisy raised a few eyebrows early in the season thanks to her friendly flirting with handsome tribemates like Shaun Hampson and David Genat. The 24-year-old Queenslander confirmed she remains “very much single”.

“I thought after this whole experience that Prince Charming might come riding in on his white horse, but not just yet. I’m a bit of a rough diamond, so I think it’ll take someone pretty special to date me,” she sighed.

Survivor fans already experiencing Daisy withdrawals could do well to mount a campaign to get her back on the box: She’d be bang up for a starring role on Ten’s other hit reality series.

“I’d LOVE to do The Bachelorette. I mean, I don’t think I’m that cookie-cutter pristine girl that they usually get, but let’s change it up. Let’s put a country girl in there and see what happens!” Daisy said.

Australian Survivor airs 7.30pm Monday and Tuesday next week on Ten.
