Stunning betrayal rocks Australian Survivor: Blood V Water
One of the most shocking moves in Australian Survivor history has seen one of the show’s tightest alliances spectacularly fall apart.
One of the most stunning betrayals in Australian Survivor history played out on Sunday night, with Jesse completely blindsided by his strongest ally and getting booted from the competition.
In one stunning move, Sam managed to eliminate Jesse, while also swindling him out of the idol that would have saved him.
Earlier in the episode, after being chosen to join Reward Challenge winners Jordie and Chrissy for a fast food feast, Jesse’s brother Jordie managed to secretly acquire a clue and pass it over to his sibling without anyone noticing.
Jordie then went on to win the Immunity Challenge, cementing his position as the new physical threat and also protecting himself from eviction.
At the same time, Mark and Josh had decided to vote the brothers from the game, but given Jordie’s immunity status, the axe had to fall on Jesse instead – who had just used his clue to find the idol.
Sam came across Jesse just as he found the prized token, and convinced him to let her hide it for him, so their rivals wouldn’t be suspicious – a move that would later prove fatal for Jesse.
Prior to the Tribal Council vote, Jesse – blissfully unaware of the betrayal that was about to unfold – confirmed to host Jonathan LaPaglia that he felt “confident” in his alliances.
“Especially at this point in the game, you need to have the relationships and the trust with people that you can work with to get to the end of the game,” he said.
“How confident are you that the plan you’ve signed up for tonight will happen?” LaPaglia asked Jesse.
“I’m very confident; I’m always confident in the relationships that I’ve built and I have a lot of trust that they’ll come through once again because they have, time and time again, so there’s no reason to think tonight will be any different.”
Shortly afterwards, Sam blindsided her one-time best friend in the game and wrote his name down, which saw him rack up six votes and get his marching orders.
As she displayed his name to the camera, Sam rubbed salt in the wound, saying: “Thanks for the idol.”
After Jesse left camp, LaPaglia warned the remaining contestants: “Well, it looks like this committee has just experienced it’s first hostile takeover. You just better make sure that the next dirty deal is yours.”
It wasn’t just Jesse that was left reeling – viewers were flabbergasted at the move, sharing their reactions in a flurry of tweets.
It just KILLS me that Jesse really trusted Sam. Have you not seen enough blindsides to know better Jesse? #SurvivorAU

followed by an immediate cut to sam finding him with the idol while heâs reading the clue lol that was so good #SurvivorAU
For someone so young, Jesse showed extreme maturity, resilience and control over being brutally blindsided by his closest ally. Blood vs Water dynamic at its strongest when Jesse kept quiet for his brother's safety.

Jesse was still coming to terms with the staggering turn of events as he exited, admitting: “I’m very confused with what’s going on right now.
“I really believed that I didn’t need to play the idol tonight.
“I’ll be wrapping my brain around that for a long time to come.”
