Brains members clash at Survivor tribal council

WARNING: Survivor spoilers ahead.

The Brains tribe were back on the chopping block during Monday night’s episode of Australian Survivor – and there were tense scenes as tribe mates George and Joey clashed.

Political operative George, one of this season’s most eccentric cast members, earlier made a very public display of dominance after the Brains team lost the immunity challenge. Sensing the target on his back, George waltzed into camp proudly wearing the hidden immunity idol he’d found previously.

But at tribal council, tribe mate Joey said he wasn’t impressed with George’s antics.

“George wearing an idol doesn’t scare me. The power of the idol scares me – does George scare me? Not so much,” he told host Jonathan LaPaglia.

“I feel like George can’t see beyond his own ego. George is a guy that’s out playing for himself … I don’t trust him after the first immunity challenge, and I don’t think I ever could again, because he drew a line in the sand that night. How do you save five people and wake up with no allies the next day?”

George hit back, calling Joey’s statements “more bulldust” and – perhaps unwisely – insisting he didn’t need friends in the game of Survivor.

“More bulldust. I’m not here to make allies, I’m not here to be the Miss Congeniality of the season. I’m here to play Survivor, and to focus on what I value. I’m not afraid to stand up for what I believe in – if that crucifies me, so be it.”

After so much sniping, it was time to vote – and the votes were close between environmental advocate Laura and doctor Mitch. In the end, Mitch got the boot – and George labelled some of his tribe mates “ruthless” for the way they voted.

Australian Survivor: Brains V Brawn continues 7:30pm Tuesday on Ten.
