‘Just grow a set’: Survivor star Johnny goes down fighting

The latest ousted Survivor contestant has lifted the lid on his tribemates, revealing basic hygiene ‘went out the window’ on the show.

Survivor star John's final words

Ousted Survivor contestant John Eastoe developed quite the reputation for nudie runs into the ocean during his time on the show. And he has a comeback for those who’d accuse him of attention-seeking behaviour: At least he’s actually washing.

As Eastoe told news.com.au after his elimination in Wednesday night’s episode, basic hygiene seemed to fall by the wayside very quickly for many of his tribemates.

“Mate, I’ll give you the tip: You get 24 adults who you’d think have been toilet-trained and raised to be hygienic, and you put them out on that island together. You soon find that toilet etiquette goes out the window. People are not quite as hygienic as social norms would have you be usually. People turn pretty savage quite quickly – I’m surprised a few of them didn’t grow tusks,” he said.

But with no access to showers, surely everyone had to do what Eastoe was frequently filmed doing — wandering out to see and disrobing for a good scrub-down?

“Well, not everyone goes out for a swim – you think Fiji would be warm, but it’s quite cold out there at times. I just enjoy getting naked and running out into the water. They’re long days out there, you’ve got to fill them someow,” said Eastoe.

“Anybody who know me, from footy to work to anywhere, knows I’m all about getting the kit off. Everything’s about 100% funnier when you do it naked.”

JOHNNY GETS THE BOOT

Affable nice guy Eastoe went down swinging during a lively tribal council in Wednesday night’s episode of Survivor: All-Stars.

Sensing he was in trouble, the Kalgoorlie gold miner turned on several of his tribemates, accusing Locky and Brooke of being the “husband and wife” secretly controlling the tribe.

“They’re one and two … and then everyone else is third or fourth fiddle,” he told host Jonathan LaPaglia. “And if people weren’t so cautious here, you could change that status quo.”

“It’s not as though there’s not enough people here outside of that alliance to make a stand and make a change,” he continued.

Tribemate Mat Rogers presented his immunity idol before the votes were read, playing it for himself so any votes cast for him would not count.

And it’s lucky for him he did, because both Mat and John scored three votes. With Mat immune, Johnny was sent packing.

“The best haircut in the game is now gone. Locky and Brooke are steering the ship, and anyone outside that is in a very precarious position,” John said after his exit.

“I honestly think had Flick got in on that vote, it would’ve changed everything,” he said, as audiences were shown Flick — who declined his offer to flip on her alliance — casting her vote for John.

He finished his run in All-Stars with a message to his now former tribemate.

“Flick: Just grow a set.”

Flick definitely wasn't flipping for Johnny.

Speaking to news.com.au today, Eastoe said in some ways he wishes he’d spoken up earlier.

“Maybe I underestimated myself... I knew I was going home, and I couldn’t go out without saying something. I hate to question that status quo, but unfortunately it didn’t come off.”

Survivor: All-Stars continues 7:30pm next Monday on Ten.
