Australian Survivor’s final three contestants have been revealed, after this season’s closest alliance dramatically dissolved at tribal council.

Double Bay real estate agent, mum and empath Cara was sent packing during Monday night’s episode, scoring two votes – all she needed to have her torch snuffed.

One vote came from Hayley – and the other from the controversial George, who had been her closest ally throughout the season. The pair had often been referred to as this season’s “power couple”.

“George and I have been tried and trusted the whole way,” Cara told the cameras after her elimination, before a cut to George in the voting booth writing her name.

“Sorry Cara, but I’m better off with Hayley right now,” he said.

Brutal. But wait – Cara also turned on George:

At least both understand that it’s not personal, it’s just Survivor.

“He’s a funny guy, I love him to bits. If George is in there, he might go all the way,” Cara said after he’d voted her out.

Cara’s elimination from the game leaves an incredibly strong final three competing for the title of sole survivor in Sunday’s grand finale.

Love him or hate him (and plenty of viewers fall on either side), political operative George has been one of this season’s most entertaining – and occasionally infuriating – players. Not overly strong in challenges – he even controversially gave up in a couple – he’s instead relied on his cunning to keep himself safe in vote after vote.

Then there’s Hayley, a real fan favourite thanks to her smart gameplay and her incredible endurance in challenges.

And Flick, who suffered the “unimaginable” tragedy of her mother’s death midway through the season – but who bravely decided to stay on and play to the end to honour her mum.

The trio do battle in a torturous final immunity challenge in Sunday’s grand finale, before being whittled down to a top two – and then a winner, who’ll go home $500,000 richer.

This season of Australian Survivor concludes this Sunday, 7.30pm on Ten
