Australian Survivor Brains v Brawn episode one: Campmates turn on Aussie model

Australian Survivor is back for a new season of Brains v Brawn, but one contestant got a very rough start in the game. WARNING: Spoilers.

Australian Survivor returned for a new season on Monday night, this time once more pitting Brains and Brawn tribes against each other.

But it was a brutally short game for one contestant on the Brawn tribe, WA model Candy, who was almost immediately targeted by tribemate Nash, after he’d found the game’s first immunity idol.

In fact, Nash’s discovery was an Australian Survivor record: The quickest any player had ever found an idol at the start of the game.

Wearing the idol around his neck to let everyone know he’d be safe at tribal council, Nash was able to effectively pick who he wanted to go home first, telling his fellow contestants that he wanted Candy gone.

“I haven’t connected with her, and I just don’t think she’s anyone I can align with moving forward,” he announced, saying her lack of a strong social game was behind his choice.

RIP Candy, (ep 1 – ep 1), we hardly knew ye.

His cocky gameplay was already rubbing many up the wrong way, but with that immunity idol around his neck, there was little his tribemates could do.

At tribal council, Candy was made aware she was under threat when fellow contestant Ursula suggested she “may not be able to bring the best to challenges.”

It wasn’t a landslide – Ursula copped some votes, as did Nash, from players hoping he would feel safe enough not to play his idol – but in the end, it was a swift end in the game for Candy, a lifelong fan of the show who even had a Survivor-themed eighth birthday party.

After her elimination, she called the early exit “everyone’s worst Survivor dream.”

“I’m sad that it was me … I’m still a bit confused. Nash had gone around and plotted, and people listened to Nash? That’s crazy!”
