A popstar from the noughties had the judges dancing on their feet during her epic blind audition on The Voice.

Australian chart-topper Bec Caruana nails her Blind Audition (The Voice)

An Australian former pop star, Bec Caruana, graced the stage of The Voice on Sunday night, and it’s made everyone feel a little nostalgic.

Caruana has hopes to reignite her career after failing to make it in the industry when ‘file sharing’ became a thing in the noughties.

At age 45, she doesn’t think it’s too late for her to get back into the spotlight — and the coaches seem to agree.

Caruana is absolutely no stranger to TV talent shows either. When she was 16, she was a runner-up on Channel 10’s Star Search.

In 2001 she was signed to Warner Music as a solo artist, under the name BJ Caruana.

“I got my record deal at 26,” Caruana told the cameras. “The single that was most successful was Dance All Night. It came out in 2002. It was played 5-6 times a day. It was the first dance work to be played on Australian commercial radio. I was playing Good Vibrations … all these good gigs. But things like file sharing started to exist and I couldn’t make music anymore. I went from popstar to waitress in nought to five seconds.”

In the year 2000, the music pirating platform Limewire took off, in the process killing a lot of hopeful artists.

After being dropped from her label, Caruana took a step back and became a mother, but she’s ready for the spotlight to be on her again.

Singing Everybody’s Free by Rozalla, Caruana had the coaches pumped and saw Jess Mauboy and Rita Ora turn their chairs.

“That’s a real life. It happens. I feel like why you are here and fighting is inspiring. You should be really proud of yourself,” said Ora.

“You have an amazing story I’d love to hone in on,” she added.

“I’m looking for a voice like yours, I think you’d be really unstoppable,” said Mauboy. “You are exceptional. I love you.”

Thinning Ora’s chances, Caruana tells Mauboy that she was in the audience for her Australian Idol audition in 2006. Iconic.

In the end, Caruana chose Mauboy as her coach.
