Ant Middleton axed from UK TV show ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’

SAS Australia’s Ant Middleton has been axed from the UK version of the show after making an offensive comment about BLM protesters.

Ant Middleton has been axed from the UK TV show SAS: Who Dares Wins after branding Black Lives Matters protesters “scum”.

Channel 4 in the UK said Middleton was dropped following talks with him over his “personal conduct”, The Sun reports.

A spokesman said: “It’s become clear our views and values are not aligned. We will not be working with him again.”

Middleton, 40, who appears on SAS Australia on Channel 7, sparked controversy last June by referring to BLM protesters as “scum” in a tweet following the group’s protests in London. He later apologised.

Two months earlier Middleton urged his followers to carry on as normal despite the coronavirus pandemic.

A TV insider said Channel 4 producers knew Middleton was a great asset to the show but he had “made one mistake too many”.

Middleton tweeted about Channel 4’s decision this morning, writing: “After five incredible years I’ve decided it’s time to move on from SAS Who Dares Wins UK. Big respect to my fellow DS – it’s been a journey I’ll never forget. Thanks to everyone that took part and made the show what it is. Really excited about the future and what’s coming this year.”

He followed that up with a second tweet that said: “Stay positive.”

Ant Middleton appeared on the first season of SAS Australia.

A Channel 7 spokesperson has confirmed Middleton will be seen on the upcoming second season of SAS Australia.

“Ant Middleton and his fellow DS (Directing Staff), Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham, Jason Fox and Ollie Ollerton, will all be returning for the second season of SAS Australia which is currently in pre-production.”
