Amazing Race Australia 2021: Power couple clash with mums

The Amazing Race’s instantly controversial ‘power couple’ won’t win any friends in the competition with this ballsy move.

Amazing Race contestants' tense clash

If you caught last night’s season premiere of The Amazing Race Australia, you might’ve been heartened by the displays of comraderie between the teams.

They’re all competing against each other for the massive $250,000 cash prize, but time and again last night, teams offered each other help and hints as they tackled day one of the race.

Don’t worry, fans of reality TV drama: The cracks soon start to show.

In this exclusive preview clip from tonight’s episode, NSW ‘power couple’ Holly and Dolor clash with QLD mums Jude and Shannon over – what else, on The Amazing Race – a taxi.

As the teams race to their next destination, Jude and Shannon jump into a taxi – that Holly and Dolor angrily insist they ordered.

“Sure you don’t want to share?” the mums plead as the power couple boot them out of the mini-van and back onto the street.

“If I was a pushover and just let them have their way, we’d be eliminated for sure,” said Dolor once in the taxi. “I don’t feel bad about pulling the mums out of the taxi at all.”

He labelled them “sneaky” but they had some choice words for him: “Dolor and Holly, based on one observation – actually, several observations – I think Dolor borders on arrogance,” said Jude.

They’ve got no regrets.

Tensions were high between Holly and Dolor during last night’s premiere, with the couple turning on each other as they fell towards the back of the pack.

By the time they made it to the first pit stop as the ninth team to arrive, Dolor was blaming his girlfriend of five years for their poor showing:

It was … a lot. Let’s hope they learn to work together better as the season progresses (or not – it’d make for good TV).

The Amazing Race Australia continues at 7.30pm tonight on 10.
