Wippa makes surprise announcement on Fitzy and Wippa show
Radio star Wippa has announced he is expecting his third child with wife Lisa, revealing the adorable way she broke the news to him.
Radio star Michael “Wippa” Wipfli has surprised his colleagues on-air with the announcement he is expecting a baby.
The 39-year-old Nova 96.9 breakfast show co-host of Fitzy and Wippa revealed he and his wife Lisa were welcoming a child during their Riddle Time segment this morning, much to the shock of his co-hosts.
Wippa and Lisa, who were married in 2013, have two children, sons Theodore, 4, and Jack, 3. Their baby is due around April.
Wippa dropped the secret unexpectedly during the regular segment, posing the question: “A man books a flight for his family of 5. His last name starts with the letter W. On paying for the flights he only received 4 tickets and on the day of the flight he only requires 4 seats. What is his name and how does he do it?”
Co-host Sarah McGilvray answered: “His wife’s pregnant. (His name is) Wipfli”.
It was met with cheers from the Nova team, who set off a glitter cannon and congratulated him on the exciting news.
“After seeing how tired you’ve been this week at work … Congratulations mate,” Fitzy said.
Wippa told news.com.au Lisa surprised him with her pregnancy by hiding her positive test in a shoebox.
“Lisa bought me a pair of leather sandals, I said ‘I don’t want leather sandals’. Then I get home and there’s a Net-a-Porter box, I said to her, ‘Darling I told you I would never wear leather sandals’,” he said. “Opened it up and inside was the pregnancy test stick with the two lines.”
Wippa, who said the couple planned the pregnancy, said he didn’t want to stop at three, something his wife wasn’t entirely sold on.
“I’m hoping there’s maybe another one, four would be great so with that said, no I will not be getting the snip,” he told news.com.au.
“Although Lisa’s said if I want a fourth I’ll have to find someone else for it so I’ve put my application in for The Bachelor 2020 — looking for a mum for my fourth kid.”
