Veteran broadcaster Chris Bath has shared a major career update, admitting she is still in “disbelief”.

During the ABC Upfronts presentation on Thursday, it was revealed the popular presenter is set to take over as Drive presenter on ABC Radio Sydney in 2025.

She will replace Richard Glover, who is departing the role after 26 years. Bath has previously filled in during his absences, and was host of the station’s Evenings program from 2016 to 2019.

“I’m still in a bit of disbelief. I always thought that Richard was going to be there forever,” she said in a statement.

“Every time I sit in that chair, I have a pretty healthy dose of imposter syndrome because I don’t know how anyone could be as good a broadcaster as Richard Glover.”

Bath added: “I’m excited, daunted, a little bit scared and nervous. The thing I love about radio is something I just don’t think you can create in television. That’s a sense of community that you can actually have live on air.”

Bath is one of Australia’s most high-profile broadcasters, and began her career 36 years ago at Sydney’s Radio 2UE before moving into television.

She was a newsreader and reporter at Prime TV in Albury and NBN Television in Newcastle before settling in to a 20-year stint at Seven in Sydney.

In December 2018, it was announced that Bath would join Channel 10 to present 10 News First Weekend, replacing Natarsha Belling.

Following the announcement of her new radio show, the presenter said she was looking forward to being on radio full-time.
