Triple M cops backlash for poster showing sea of white, male faces

A SELF-congratulatory tweet from Triple M backfired overnight, as many pointed out the blokey broadcaster’s lack of diversity among the 25 faces on show.

A TWEET from Triple M celebrating the station’s success in the latest radio survey backfired overnight, with many taking the station to task over the lack of diversity on show.

“Latest survey ... and Triple M is back at number one!” Triple M tweeted, posting a photo of its on-air roster of talent. A sea of white, male faces — 25 of them, all-up.

Mick Molloy, Eddie McGuire, Matt Tilley and Joe Hildebrand were among the faces in the not-exactly-diverse bunch, and it didn’t take long for other Twitter users to point out the obvious:

While we understand the uproar — seriously, which bright spark in Triple M’s marketing department decided the poster wasn’t going to cause controversy — we’re hardly surprised that the station known for its love of Nickelback and footy chat would have the world’s blokiest line-up.

News.com.au approached Triple M, who declined to comment on the matter.
