Tony Abbott asked about Kyle Sandilands poo on radio
KYLE and Jackie O had Prime Minister Tony Abbott on air this morning, and it wasn’t just politics they wanted to talk about.
TONY Abbott might be regretting his decision to hit the FM airwaves this morning after being asked about Kyle Sandilands’ poo.
The Prime Minister conducted two FM radio interviews this morning on Sydney’s Triple M and KIIS FM stations.
He was asked about pressing issues such as the Bali Nine pending executions, national security, leadership tensions and controversial shock jock Kyle Sandilands “pooing himself” on holidays.
KIIS FM presenter Jackie O wrapped up her interview with the Prime Minister by saying: “listen before you go Mr Abbott did you know that Kyle pooed himself over the holidays?”.
Sandilands screamed “oh my God”.
“Look I dare say many of us get caught short occasionally,” the Prime Minister responded.
“But the less said about it the better.”
Sandilands protested: “I was not well, I was in hospital”.
A chuckling Prime Minister responded: “Well, mate I’m sure you got the best possible treatment and you’re right as rain now. Good stuff”.
The Kyle and Jackie O twitter account posted that Mr Abbott had responded: “I didn’t think you could do things like that Kyle?” but that was not heard on air.
On Triple M’s The Grill with Matty Johns the Prime Minister was referred to as “Tone” and “pal”.
Mr Abbott was asked by the Triple M team what he should do about Malcolm Turnbull’s “open ambition”.
The Prime Minister said: “I encourage it”.
He conceded Mr Turnbull was seen as “Foreman material”.
“Malcolm is doing his job and he is doing it very competently,” Mr Abbott said.
“Some people think the guy is Foreman Material and why wouldn’t they?”
Mr Abbott’s disastrous interview with Sandilands follows a spate of such interviews for Julia Gillard with the shock jock when she was Prime Minister.
In a radio interview in May 2013 Ms Gillard was reffered to simply by her first name and asked, among other things, to participate in a game called “rolls of cash’’ - where participants strip to their underwear and vie for cash bills in a pool of honey.
Sandilands then took Ms Gillard down to the car park to ‘’surprise’’ her with an offer to take his convertible Rolls Royce phantom for the day.
Ms Gillard’s communications director John McTernan leapt to the defence of Sandilands saying he touched “the hearts of millions of people”.
Earlier that year Sandilands offered to take up the role of Arts Minister.
“I’ve been in Priscilla Queen of the Dessert; I was an Asian prostitute so I am across the arts. I’m your man.’’
