FORMER swimmer Stephanie Rice has tweeted that she is “really upset” after a prank backfired on the Kyle and Jackie O radio show this morning.

The triple Olympic gold medallist, who was on the Kiis FM breakfast show to promote her new website, agreed to take part in a game called “Text or Tweet”.

“This is where you get to decide,” explained Jackie O, “We get to take your phone off you and you get to choose.

“Do we get to tweet anything we want from your account or do we get to text someone on your phone and say what we want?”

Rice chose the tweet option but she immediately regretted it when Jackie O revealed what they’d tweeted from her account.

“Here’s what it says,” said the radio host, “After much discussion between family and friends today, I’m announcing my official return to the pool.”

“Oh no,” groaned Rice, who announced her retirement from the sport in April this year.

Kyle found the tweet quite amusing.

“That is going to be one interesting few replies from everyone who doesn’t listen to Kiis,” said Rice.

And she was right. The message was immediately retweeted by fans and media organisations around the world before the segment had even ended.

Once she was off air, Rice quickly deleted the tweet before setting the record the straight.

Oh, and if you’re wondering what would have happened had Rice chosen the text option ...

“We were going to text your ex Eamon Sullivan and say, ‘Hey Babe I’ve been thinking, wanna give us another go?’” revealed Jackie O.
