American singer Sabrina Carpenter is on the rise. She is steadily climbing the Billboard charts in the US and is currently in Australia supporting Taylor Swift on her Eras Tour.

Yet somehow, the talented 24-year-old has her own insecurities – and it surfaced during a recent visit to Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach for lunch.

This morning, on 2DAY FM’s Hughesy, Ed & Erin, co-host Erin Molan said there’s no other place that can make a person feel sub-par than the beachside suburb, due to the many attractive people who live there. And Carpenter agreed.

“I was there yesterday and I could not agree with you more,” the Nonsense singer said. “Like, I’ve never felt uglier. Never felt uglier.”

Still, Carpenter has fallen in love with Australia, saying she’s a fan of everything from the food, to the people.

“I’m not trying to gas you guys out, because I’m sure everyone always says, ‘Australia is the best.’ But it truly is just is one of my favourite cities I’ve ever been to,” she told Molan.

“I love everywhere in Australia, but Sydney is just particularly so special. The food is amazing, everyone is really attractive, everyone’s really nice. And the shows, the crowds have been really, really splendid. I haven’t found a red flag yet.”

Molan also asked Carpenter about her working relationship with Swift, who the young singer said is more than just a mentor to her.

“I feel really, really lucky that not only do I get to see her show every night and just watch her in the masterclass that she provides, but just I love her so much as a person and she’s been so supportive of me as a human being first, which I really, really appreciate,” she said.

“And it’s nice to have people in the industry that you look up to and can also talk to. I cannot say enough positive things – she’s just the best.”

Carpenter and Swift have been seen out and about in Sydney since arriving here on Monday following three record-breaking shows in Melbourne this past weekend. The duo were spotted having dinner at Italian restaurant Pellegrino 2000 in Surry Hills on Tuesday night.

They were also seen at Sydney Zoo in Bungarribee in the Western Sydney Parklands, where they were joined by Swift’s boyfriend, NFL Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce.

“It has been really fun to go travel and go super far away from home and feel like you have friends with you,” Carpenter added.

Tonight, Carpenter will warm up the crowd for Swift’s Sydney fans at Accor Stadium – the first of Swift’s four sold-out shows in the Harbour City.
