Sam Frost and Rove McManus to front 2Day FM’s new breakfast radio show
WATCH out Sasha, Sam Frost has a new man in her life and he’s going to be taking up an awful lot of her time from 6-9am weekdays from now on.
IT’S official. Sam Frost will join Rove McManus as co-host of 2Day FM’s new breakfast radio show.
Rumours have been swirling for weeks that the Bachelorette was locked in to hit the airwaves alongside the comedian, and 2Day FM has now confirmed the unlikely duo will launch their new Sydney show, Rove & Sam, on Monday, November 9.
Despite having little radio experience, the 26-year-old TV personality says she’s thrilled to be working with the industry heavyweight and jumped at the opportunity when approached by Southern Cross Austereo.
“It’s such an honour to be working with someone who does have so much experience and I’m sure he’ll be able to help me along the way,” she told news.com.au exclusively.
“I’m always open to criticism, like in any job, I think that’s the only way you get better. He’s such a great mentor, I’ve hit the jackpot with Rove, I seriously can’t believe it.”
The pair have been spending as much time together as possible to bond ahead of the launch date, and they’ve promised there’ll be plenty of banter and tonnes of laughs.
“We’ve crossed paths a little bit and like many people I was watching The Bachelorette,” McManus said. “But we have hung out a little bit since we got together for this process and Sam has come over and hung out and my daughter Ruby loves her and approves of Sasha.
“We’re trying to hook up a double date soon ... with our partners of course.”
Champing at the bit to dive headfirst into the competitive timeslot, the Gold Logie winner admitted they’re still trying to nut out the finer details of the show’s format.
“That’s one of the fun parts of where we’re at the moment, is just really working through the organics of the show,” he said.
“But the foundation is just us kind of hanging out and talking, considering our friendship is really just a new one.”
Frost added, “I think listeners, like viewers of The Bachelorette, they kind of enjoy a journey, so I feel like if they see us from the beginning and follow us through this journey and then in a couple of years they’ll be like, ‘I was listening to them when they started!’”
Speaking of listeners, the loved-up brunette said boyfriend Sasha Mielczarek encouraged her to take on the role and will be definitely tuning in each morning.
“Sasha is amazing, we were on our publicity tour when it was being pitched and he just said, ‘you should do it!’
“Sash just thinks the world of me and the moment I mentioned Rove, he said, ‘what, do you mean Rove, like Rove, Rove?”’
As for the dreaded 4am alarm clock, she’s not too concerned about the lifestyle change affecting her relatively new relationship.
“It’s good because Sash starts work at 5am, he works early hours, goes to be early, so I think it will be fine.
“We’ll just figure it out but Sasha is incredibly supportive and I couldn’t do it without him.”
She also promised talking about her romance on air won’t be off limits, which will no doubt delight Bachelorette fans.
“The good thing about my relationship is that we take the mickey out of each other all the time so, I might take the p*ss out of him on air, but he’s so open and he’s so cool about it.”
But just how much is she willing to spill? Sasha might live to regret this one.
Rove & Sam hit the airwaves on 6am Monday, 9th November on 104.1 2DayFM.
