Rumours swirl that Sam Frost will co-host Rove’s new breakfast radio show
WHAT’s next for Sam Frost? On radio this morning, the big secret may have slipped out. Let’s just say she’ll be setting her alarm clock nice and early.
MARRIAGE, babies, a breakfast radio gig.
It seems a lot of things are on the cards for Bachelorette Sam Frost, including being the co-host of Rove McManus’s new breakfast radio show on Sydney’s 2Day FM.
Since it was announced earlier this month that Rove would front the new show, Frost’s name has been thrown around in industry circles as a rumoured co-host (along with Carrie Bickmore and Emma Freedman).
But it might be more than just a rumour, with entertainment commentator Peter Ford telling 3AW’s Ross and John breakfast show that the Bachelorette has signed on to be the comedian’s sidekick.
“Sam Frost has not only scored herself a bloke but she’s scored herself a radio gig. She’s going to be Rove McManus’s new co-host on his Sydney breakfast radio show which begins next week,” Ford confidently told the Melbourne show.
And while Ford revealed the news as if it were a confirmed fact, Southern Cross Austereo remained coy about the rumours.
“We don’t have anything to confirm at this stage in regard to Rove’s co-host or an update on the show’s launch date,” an SCA spokesperson told news.com.au in a statement.
If the 26-year-old does end up joining the new breakfast team, it would be the latest in a string of recent industry rumours to come true.
The ball started rolling last month when the Australian Radio Network announced Jane Hall would bow out of Melbourne’s KIIS 101.1. Rumours that her replacement would be Nova breakfast host Meshel Laurie were soon confirmed.
Fan favourite Chrissie Swan was then rumoured to take over Laurie’s mic at Nova, which also proved to be true.
Around the same time, word circled that 2Day’s struggling Dan & Maz breakfast show would not see the year out, and instead be replaced with Rove. Also correct.
It seems Dan & Maz quietly ended their show and cleared out the studio last Friday, posting an image of their production team at the pub with the caption: “final @2dayfm brekky show today for this team. the best i’ve ever worked with.”
On Monday, they took to the show’s Facebook page and thanked fans for their support.
“Thanks for all the love this year. We’re taking a bit of a holiday and then we’ll be back, all over Australia on the weekends in 2016,” they wrote.
And with the brekkie slot now free, rumours are swirling the new-look show could start as soon as next Monday.
So, all this Sam Frost talk could just be rubbish. But with all the recent whispers getting ticked off, it might not be long until Frost is setting her alarm for some early morning starts.
