Radio rivals air identical pranks with Guy Sebastian

AWKWARD. Looks like Kyle and Jackie O and Fitzy and Wippa all had the same idea for a segment when they landed a Guy Sebastian interview.

Looks like KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O and Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa shows both had the same idea for a segment when they landed a Guy Sebastian interview.

This morning, the rival radio shows aired almost identical pranks with the singer, involving hidden earpieces.

Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli got the jump, arranging an actor pretending to be a driver to pick up Sebastian and pepper him with awkward questions and stories for the whole trip.

It started innocently enough, with a polite: “How’s your day going?” but quickly progressed into cringe-worthy territory, with the ‘driver’ confusing him with Stan Walker, then demonstrating his own singing skills with a rendition of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

Eventually, he admitted Wippa was dictating the conversation through a secret earpiece, and the jig was up.

Unlike his Nova stitch up, Sebastian was the one doing the pranking on The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

As part of their “Double Dare” segment, Sebastian was challenged to go through a McDonald’s drive-through and do and say exactly what Jackie O instructed him to do through an earpiece.

In the awkward segment, the Australian Idol winner had to repeatedly start singing “Angels Brought Me Here” and beg the staff to let him have his meal for free.

But the most uncomfortable part was when he dared to say to the young McDonald’s female staffer, “I’ve been working out pretty hard lately”.

“That’s great,” she said, looking a little uncomfortable.

“Do you wanna see my abs?” Sebastian asked, “want me to take my top off?”

“Um ... that’s OK,” the girl said.

At the end of the prank, Guy Sebastian clearly felt a little bad about his actions.

“That poor first girl,” he said, “She thought I was such a creep.”
