Palmer United Party Senator Jacqui Lambie asks a 22-year-old male, ‘Are you well-hung?’ on Heart 107.3

SENATOR Jacqui Lambie’s staff has been inundated with abuse following yesterday’s cringe-worthy radio interview, which she says was a joke “to lighten people’s day”.

PALMER United Senator Jacqui Lambie says her staff has been inundated with abusive phone calls after her cringe-worthy radio interview yesterday in which she asked a 22-year-old listener if he was “well-hung”.

Ms Lambie, 43, appeared this morning on the same radio show that she got herself into strife on yesterday, telling the Heart 107.3 FM hosts that if people have negative comments they should “keep them to yourself”.

“What I don’t appreciate is people that are ringing the office and abusing the staff and on radio I wouldn’t even repeat some of the words that are coming out of their mouths,” Ms Lambie said this morning.

“They’re degrading themselves by the way they’re speaking to them and the words coming out of their mouth are disgraceful.”

Ms Lambie again apologised this morning but maintained her comments were just a bit of fun.

“If I can’t let me hair down a little bit and make a joke on a breakfast radio show to lighten people’s day then I think we’re in a bit of trouble,” she said this morning.

The Senator has copped a barrage of criticism in the last 24 hours after she revealed on live radio what she looks for in a man and has been forced to do a number of media appearances to explain her comments.

“They must have heaps of cash and they’ve got to have a package between their legs, let’s be honest,” Ms Lambie said on Heart 107.3 FM yesterday.

The 43-year-old politician and mother of two was then introduced to the 22-year-old listener named Jamie, who called into the Tasmanian radio show to express his interest in dating the Senator.

“Do you have plenty of cash?” Ms Lambie asked Jamie.

“I’m just a bit concerned that at 22 years of age and living in Tasmania you might not be quite there yet?”

Jamie assured her he does have plenty of cash.

She then asked, “I’m just a bit concerned because you’re so young, I’m not sure you’d be able to handle Jacqui Lambie.”

Jamie assured her he could.

And then Ms Lambie asked the really important question, “Are you well-hung?”

Jamie assured her he is … “like a donkey”.

Jacqui Lambie’s comments made headlines around the world.

The radio hosts, Kim Napier and Dave Noonan, then suggested that Jamie and the Senator go on a date, which she reluctantly agreed to.

“Maybe a breakfast date,” Ms Lambie said, before adding, “I can see my 24-year-old son now, he’d be cringing by now”.

Speaking to news.com.au yesterday, the supposedly “well endowed” young Tasmanian man who hit on Ms Lambie said he was keen to take the Palmer United Senator out on a date.

The 22-year-old told news.com.au that he would like to take Ms Lambie out for breakfast and confirmed he doesn’t have a girlfriend.

Jamie, a carpenter, said it started off as a joke but he was very serious about catching up with Ms Lambie.

He also confirmed he stood by his, erm, claims and Ms Lambie’s requirements in a man.

“I’d gladly like to meet her and go for breakfast,” he said.

But, unfortunately for Jamie, Ms Lambie is no longer that keen to meet up.

Senator Jacqui Lambie has apologised to anyone she offended with her comments.

In a statement provided to news.com.au yesterday, Ms Lambie said she was joking and apologised to anyone who was offended by her remarks.

“When Kim and Dave on Hobart’s Heart FM 107.3 this morning asked me about my love life in a light hearted segment — I tried to cover up my embarrassment by making a joke,” she said.

“A lot of people laughed — including the tradie I was talking to — some people may have got offended.

“I apologise to any radio listeners who may be offended by my comments on Kim and Dave’s show.”

Ms Lambie went on to say that her political enemies would make a big deal out of her comments.

“But the reality is I was talking with Kim and Dave on Heart FM — not Sarah Ferguson on the ABC,” she said.

Heart 107.3 radio hosts Kim and Dave couldn’t believe their ears this morning.

One can only imagine what would happen if the roles were reversed and a male politician made similar comments about a female.

Just two months ago there was outrage when Prime Minister Tony Abbott was caught winking and smiling when confronted over the budget by sex line worker on the radio.

Either way, Senator Lambie has sparked quite the response on social media with many failing to see the funny side of her comments.
