KIIS FM radio duo Kyle and Jackie O told news.com.au’s On The Couch with Melissa Hoyer that the worst person they ever interviewed was none other than “Sk8er Girl” Avril Lavigne.

“In the beginning she was really hard work,” said Jackie of their interview a number of years ago, “and I do remember she came in the studio and she just wasn’t into it and she was sitting next to me and I asked her a question she just [huffed] and didn’t answer and then she was so difficult.

“She’s great now because she was just a kid back then.”

Kyle said the awkward interaction led the pair to figure out a new strategy for dealing with Lavigne — and other celebrities who clearly didn’t feel like being interviewed.

“After that interview we decided to book her in for half an hour at a time,” Kyle said. “And when she would get in she didn’t want to be there, and we made a deal where we said give us five minutes of happy and chatty and then we will finish the interview and she was like ‘Oh, OK, only five minutes instead of half an hour’.

“You have to work around these people and their attitudes and their emotions as well.”
