When Worthington walked the red carpet of the InStyle and Audi Women of Style awards last night in a loose fitted two piece, refused to speak to media and bypassed the champagne all night for water, speculation immediately mounted that she was expecting her second child with husband Sam Worthington.
Rumours immediately flew that the 28-year-old would announce the happy news in an interview with Kyle and Jackie O on KiisFM this morning, but when the pair asked her if she was in the studio to make an announcement, she denied there was anything to tell.
“No, I just wanted to say hi,” she told to the radio duo. “I always want to come in and say hi.”
Jackie O again addressed the speculation indirectly, asking Worthington if she found people asking about her being pregnant “intrusive” or “offensive”.
“I think being pregnant is a personal thing for a woman and I find it weird talking to you about it,” she said.
“It’s something for Sam and I and it should be between us and our close family. I do find it weird people asking me.”
Worthington, who accepted the Reader’s Choice Award at the stylish soiree last night, said she initially thought she wanted four children, but since having her son 13 months ago she has changed her mind.
“Since having Rocket, maybe not four, it’s just life-changing but the most rewarding thing.
“(Sam) would have many, he loves children. He’s the best. The best husband, the best father, he’s just the best, hes my best friend. Having a child has enhanced our relationship.”
Worthington also spoke about the unsual name she chose for her son and agreed there would be pressure to come up with more baby names that sounded as “cool”.
“If I met a guy in the bar called Rocket, I would definitely go home with him, rather than a Kyle,” she said.
“We can’t have Rocket and (a simple name like) Paul, I have no idea. Something cool.”
