Kyle’s emotional text: ‘If I die, I want you to know I think you’re a wonderful person’
KYLE Sandilands sent an emotional text message to his co-host Jackie O during a health scare which saw him hospitalised in late December.
KYLE Sandilands has opened up about the health scare which saw him hospitalised for 24 hours over the Christmas break.
Speaking on his Kiis FM breakfast show this morning, Sandilands revealed that the medical drama wasn’t anywhere near as serious as he initially made out to Jackie O.
“At around 9.30 one morning, I received a text from Kyle and he said, ‘Just in case you hear, been in hospital for a few days now ... great holiday break, kiss kiss,’” said Jackie O.
In another text message the radio star wrote, “I’m locked up in a glass room and everyone who comes in has to wear a mask and protective clothing. If I die, I want you to know I think you’re a wonderful person.”
A shaken Jackie O replied to her longtime radio partner who shot back another message saying, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to worry you. Just didn’t know what to say ... oh and I’ve just pooed the bed”.
Jackie O’s concern grew even more when she called the 43-year-old and he broke down in tears, saying “I think I’ve had a stroke”.
But it turns out Sandilands hadn’t had a stroke at all. He actually had high blood pressure, a fever and was “traumatised” after his faecal mishap.
“I got up and I looked at the bed and I thought, ‘Oh god, I must have dropped some mashed pumpkin’,” said Sandilands on air this morning.
“Then I thought, ‘Oh, that’s poo!’ And it was just everywhere. I scooped up all of the sheets and the pillow, wrapped it up into a big ball and ran into the shower with it.”
Jackie O, who was fearing the worst, rushed to Wahroonga’s The San Hospital to be by her co-host’s side but was surprised by what she saw when she walked into Sandilands’ room.
“I get there and you’re completely fine,” she said on Kiis FM.
“I walked in and the doctor said you were pretty much fine to leave. I think you just had a fever and you were out of your mind but I thought you had some sort of stroke.”
This morning was Kyle and Jackie O’s first morning back on air. They are currently the number one FM breakfast show in Sydney.
