Kyle Sandilands delivered the most Kyle Sandilands speech of all time after accepting one of radio’s top honours at the weekend.

The 51-year-old veteran presenter and his longtime co-host, Jackie O Henderson, were inducted into the Commercial Radio Hall of Fame at the 33rd annual ACRAs (Australian Commercial Radio Awards) in Sydney on Saturday night, with Sandilands delivering a series of stinging barbs during his rollercoaster acceptance speech.

“I’ve got no-one to thank,” Sandilands began, before eventually thanking the two women in his life, co-host Jackie and fiancee Tegan Kynaston.

“I thank my beautiful fiancee. Thank you Teegs, you’re beautiful. We’ve got a baby together, we’re having a great time,” he added, before going off course.

“I never thought I would meet another … I thought … Jackie’s my best mate but obviously there’s been no sex there because she’s stacked on the kilos,” Sandilands said, which was met with gasps from the audience.

“As have I! It’s very equal up here. We’re both fat now. We always used to laugh at all the fatties in radio and now we are the fatties.”

Insults aside, Sandilands went on to say he “loved” his co-host, before delivering an almighty dig at his radio bosses.

“No one else in management, or anyone that I’ve ever met in the management of any of the companies, will I thank. Thank you very much,” Sandilands added, to which Jackie awkwardly laughed, saying, “Oh wow, OK.”

Sandilands doubled down on his comment, adding, “Well because I had to fight against you [bosses] and it takes so long for you to realise I know better than all of you.”

Sandilands did however pay tribute to a former boss who protected him throughout his career and made sure he never got fired.

“What no one knows is that when Jeff Allis hired me … He said to me, ‘There’s a lot of people here that are really good at their job and there’s a lot of 9-5 people just punching their time card’,” Sandilands said.

“And he said, ‘between you and I, just f***ing do anything you want and I will be your get out of jail free card!’

“So I took full advantage, as a lot of you would be aware. A lot of management were like, ‘How the f**k did he not get fired 4000 times? Jeff Allis saved me every time.”

Meanwhile, Jackie O thanked her ex-husband and former radio co-host ‘Ugly’ Phil O’Neil, for “the opportunities that you’ve given me and for showing me the passion and the need for hard work in radio”.

She also paid tribute to her daughter, Kitty, who was in the audience, saying: “She never made mummy feel guilty for not being there in the mornings for school drop off … She’s so cool and patient and kind.”

And finally, she thanked Kyle, her co-host of 22 years, saying: “He is my ride or die. I know what you’re gonna say before you even say it.

“We laugh, we cry … But you’ve always supported me and I am just so grateful that you have been the one by my side throughout this. If you ride off a cliff, I’ll ride off it with you.”

KIIS FM’s The Kyle & Jackie O Show also won the coveted Best On-Air Team award in the FM category at the ACRAs, holding the record for the most ever wins in that category.
