Kyle Sandilands responds to going viral in the US after kicking podcast host off air
Radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands has addressed going viral in the US for kicking a controversial podcast host off his and Jackie O’s radio show on Friday.
Kyle Sandilands has just realised he’s gone viral in the US — but there’s one widespread remark his new-found fans have made with which he’s taken issue.
The 50-year-old radio shock jock made waves overseas after he launched an explosive rant at a guest on his KIIS FM show on Friday, booting a US podcast host off air in an explosive rage.
During a chat with the hosts of self-purported “world’s No. 1 men’s podcast” Fresh and Fit, Sandilands became incensed when one half of the podcast, Myron Gaines, claimed that men should be allowed to cheat in relationships, among other problematic assertions.
“Women want attention, men want sex, so my thing is men are capable of having sex with other women while still loving his girl the same,” Gaines said.
As Sandilands began to interject, Gaines demanded more time to spout his theories, which Sandilands didn’t take kindly to.
“That’s crazy. You can’t just go throwing that thing around …” Sandilands began, before Gaines exclaimed “Let me finish!”

Furious by the rebuttal, Sandilands spat: “I’m sick of you asking to finish your long, boring answers that are the same answer every time we ask you a question.”
“But you guys asked me to come on your show?” Gaines questioned.
“So f**king what, clown!?” Sandilands fired back, prompting fits of laughter from co-host Jackie “O” Henderson.
“Here you are on the show, I can turn you off as well! Turn these clowns off, see ya fellas! Come back when you’re 30 and not being led around by your d**ks,” Sandilands fumed as he and Jackie sarcastically farewelled the podcast hosts in unison.
Earlier in the interview, Gaines, who has 40,000 Instagram followers, said women posting sexy photos on Instagram was a form of cheating.
“If I am going to commit to you, give you a marriage, give you a title, give you a ring, give you children – I expect a certain type of woman,” Gaines said.
“You might not like it, it might hurt your feelings, you might say ‘I’m not a piece of property’ or whatever,” Gaines added, “But with all due respect, f**k your feelings.”
The now-viral KIIS FM clip of Gaines being shamed on Aussie radio has garnered a huge response online from the myriad US critics of Fresh and Fit.
In an unlikely twist, dozens of social media users have praised Sandilands for taking a stand against blatant sexism, dubbing him “Aussie Santa” and “Colonel Sanders” and “Aussie Dad”.
Discussing the reaction on the show today, Sandilands had no idea he had become an internet sensation over the weekend.
“It’s funny because they have no idea who we are and they're seeing us for the first time,” co-host Henderson said before reading out some of the comments on the footage.
“Keep in mind they have no idea who we are,” she repeated before delving into the many remarks on Sandilands’ appearance.
While Sandilands seemed unfazed by being likened to Santa Claus and the KFC icon, it was one name he was taken aback by.
“We stan gramps,” Henderson read out, translating that “stan” means “we are big fans of”.
“Gramps?” Sandilands – who is expecting his first child with fiance Tegan Kynaston this year — questioned to laughs from his co-host.
“I’ll take it … but I’m a bit dodge on that,” he sulked as Henderson concluded with two of the best tweets she’d sourced.
“Kyle and Jackie O going viral for being morally correct is the biggest plot twist of the 21st century,” she said to roars of laughter from her wildly controversial co-host.
“I hope they give this old man a raise,” she added, which Sandilands — who earns a reported $5 million per year to host KIIS FM’s breakfast show — scoffed at.
“I agree – it’s about time they paid me appropriately,” he said.
“They must think I’m skint.”
