Kyle Sandilands begrudgingly apologised to Abbie Chatfield live on radio this morning, bringing an end to their heated two-year feud.

Kyle's tense apology to Abbie Chatfield

In a tense interview broadcast live on KIIS FM, Kyle Sandilands and Abbie Chatfield buried the hatchet after their heated two-year feud.

Why the pair fell out

The feud began back in November 2022 when Kyle and Brittany Hockley (who was filling in on KIIS FM for Jackie O) made some disparaging remarks about Abbie during an interview with rapper Yung Gravy.

“I have a bit of a relationship beginning with Abbie Chatfield,” Yung Gravy said on air, to which Kyle replied, “oh Jesus, you and everyone else, line up my friend, line up”.

Kyle asked Yung Gravy if Abbie had sent him any nudes, and when the rapper said no, Kyle said, “Sh*t, you must be the only one.”

Abbie fires back

Not long after Yung Gravy’s interview on KIIS FM, Abbie addressed Kyle and Brittany’s comments on her It’s A Lot podcast.

“It was quite f**ked and it really upset me,” she said.

“The issue that people like Kyle and Brittany have with me is that I’m able to speak about sexuality in a way that isn’t shameful, and they think that that must equate to f**king around every single day and having sex every single day when actually it’s just that I don’t have the shame that they have and therefore they’re projecting it on to me.”

Brittany later apologised to Abbie on Instagram, writing that she was sorry for the “undercurrent of misogynistic tones that the interview had”.

Brittany added, “It was not and never has been my intention to make anyone feel shameful for their dating or sex life.”

Kyle and Abbie bury the hatchet … eventually

On Wednesday morning, Abbie’s musician boyfriend, Adam Hyde, appeared on KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O Show to promote his latest songs.

During the interview, Kyle brought up his strained relationship with Abbie.

“I don’t think she’s a fan of mine,” Kyle said to Adam. “There’s been some sort of error … because I rated her.”

Jackie suggested that they call Abbie live on air so the pair could sort out their differences once and for all.

Once Abbie was on the line, she told the KIIS FM host she was less than impressed with his past comments.

“I just didn’t like the way that you and Brittany spoke about me in a kind of a slut-shaming way,” Abbie said.

“I think you just say things a lot of the time, Kyle, and it has damaging effects to people that are listening.”

Abbie continued, “the whole conversation around it made me really upset and really uncomfortable and Yung Gravy actually messaged me after (the 2022 interview) and said, ‘that was a really weird, really uncomfortable interview because of how they spoke about you.’”

Kyle told Abbie that he never intended to slut shame her, saying, “I don’t want you to think that I think you’re some sort of slag, because I don’t.”

But he then stuck his foot in it again when he had a slight crack at Abbie for discussing the incident on her It’s A Lot podcast.

“I heard you carried on on the podcast?” he said to Abbie.

“I didn’t carry on,” Abbie replied. “I spoke about it because my fear is that people listening will start to speak about other women that way and not understand why that’s wrong.”

Kyle responded, “I don’t think you’re really worried about the other women. I think you thought, ‘what a prick this guy is,’ and if you did think that, then I am sorry.”

The apology didn’t go down well with Abbie.

“So if I thought you were a prick, then you’re sorry … but you’re not sorry for your actions that caused that? You’re sorry that I thought you were a prick?” she said to the KIIS FM host.

“That’s right, because it was a misunderstanding,” Kyle said.

At Jackie’s behest, Kyle then delivered a heartfelt apology to Abbie, saying, “I’m sorry that if my harsh words implied that I was slut-shaming … but regardless of whether I meant it or didn’t … if it offended you, I’m sorry,” he said.

Abbie reluctantly accepted the apology.

“OK, that’s as good as it’s going to get from Kyle Sandilands. Thank you, Kyle,” she said.
