Kyle and Jackie O broadcast ‘appalling’ segment on Kiis FM
KYLE and Jackie O are controversial at the best of times, but they really crossed the line this morning, paying a listener $1,000 to perform a lewd act.
KYLE and Jackie O crossed the line this morning by paying a male listener $1,000 to prove that he could perform fellatio on himself.
What’s even more surprising about the distasteful piece of content is the fact it aired just after 8am, which is the peak listening time for the Kiis FM breakfast show.
The in-studio stunt came about after Jackie O asked yesterday if any listeners were actually physically able to perform the act.
“Yesterday Josh rang us up and said, ‘Hey, I’m one of those ... guys’ who can bend himself in half and he can take care of business solo, just him and his mouth,” said Kyle on air this morning.
The listener was invited into the studio and offered a cash reward if he could demonstrate that he was able.
“We’re going to use an analogy this morning, we’ve got Crunchie bars in here,” said Jackie O.
“Some of the men in the office are going to give it a go just to see and then you’ll (Josh) possibly do the same with your Crunchie bar.”

But before he gave it a go, Josh was “interviewed” about his physical skill.
“When did you first discover that you could do this?” asked Jackie O.
“And later on then when no-one else was around and you were fully nude at your place, how was it?” asked Kyle, “What do you rate yourself?”
And then the stunt begun.
“OK so what we’re gonna do, the guys have got a Crunchie bar between their legs,” said Jackie O. “Give it a whack guys.”
“What I want you to do is see if you can suck the chocolate off and I wanna see exposed honeycomb,” said Kyle in the innuendo-filled segment.
The radio duo then commentated as listener Josh and a few male staff members attempted the act.
“Oh my god, wow,” said Jackie O after watching Josh bend over to reach his Crunchie.
“He’s just bitten three inches off the top,” said Kyle. “Make sure you swallow that Crunchie. Don’t spit it out, you know the rules.”
The listener was then handed a $1,000 prize and Kyle ended the segment by suggesting another potential stunt for the future.
“Jackie, can this be done the other way around? If we got a couple of meat pies from down at Harry’s, do you reckon you girls could do this thing?”
@kyleandjackieo just turned you off forever. You've become too crass. Appalling! #notfunny

Now, I should declare that I used to be a breakfast radio producer for Southern Cross Austereo, the network that Kyle and Jackie O used to work for.
But I’m also a big fan of their Kiis FM show and I listen every morning, not just because their celebrity interviews can often be turned into news stories, but because the duo are genuinely funny and entertaining.
Given my history, I’m rarely shocked by FM radio content these days ... but this morning was an exception.
Not only is 8am — 8.30am the peak audience time for most FM breakfast shows, but it’s also when kids are in cars on the way to school, and for that reason “inappropriate” content is often aired before 7am.
It could be argued that most people know exactly what sort of content Kyle and Jackie O deliver, and therefore they wouldn’t have been shocked or offended by this morning’s stunt.
They are after all the number one FM breakfast show in Sydney.
But in my opinion the segment came dangerously close to breaching Commercial Radio Australia’s Codes of Practice, which states:
“Licensees must not broadcast a feature program which has an explicit sexual theme as its core component unless it is broadcast between 9.30pm and 5.00am.”
Paying a listener to prove that (if he wanted to) he’s able to put his old fella in his mouth? Come on Kyle and Jackie O, you’re better than that.
UPDATE: In a statement to news.com.au, an ARN spokesperson said:
“This segment came about organically in response to an article on a popular global news site that stated interesting human facts. From that, a segment was developed which became a social experiment with a call out to Sydney listeners.
“Being mindful of the time that this segment was being aired, we ensured that there wasn’t any sexually explicit language.
“There have been no complaints to the station.”
