Jules Lund: The worst celebrities to interview: Jonah Hill, Lady Gaga and more

“HE WAS just being a fu**wit!” That’s how 2Day FM radio star Jules Lund described an interview with a big Hollywood star in this refreshingly honest chat.

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum mock Jules Lund

JULES Lund has interviewed hundreds of celebrities during his TV and radio career and he’s more than willing to admit that some of them have been sh**heads.

The 35-year-old, who currently hosts the 2Day FM breakfast show in Sydney with Merrick Watts and Sophie Monk, has revealed to news.com.au that a few of his celeb encounters have gone spectacularly wrong.

“Unfortunately you’ve just got to bow to them otherwise there’s repercussions,” said Lund.

“But if they’re offensive then it’s really hard for me, who doesn’t really care, to keep my mouth shut.”

So which stars have been the worst?

Jonah Hill:

“I sat down with Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, who appears to be his sexual crush, for their movie 21 Jump Street,” said Lund.

“Jonah Hill was just cutting me off in the interview. The backstory is that he had just done an interview with Fifi Box for Sunrise and the three of them had just had all of this fun and then I had to walk in like the spare di** at a wedding and say, ‘now guys, we’re going to have a similar interview but this time for radio.’

“And Jonah just wasn’t buying it and he kept cutting me off and so I decided to just shoot him down.

“I said, ‘Jonah, last time you were in Australia you kissed a friend of mine and never called her back,’ and he fired up!

“He just went me and thought, ‘Oh fu**, I don’t have any power here, what was I thinking?’

“He tore me a new ar**hole. He was just being a fu**wit.

“I think we (the radio station) got in trouble after that. The same touring company were reluctant to give us an interview with Rihanna because they weren’t impressed with me, but I wasn’t impressed with Jonah.

“He was just showing off in front of Channing Tatum.”

Jesse Eisenberg:

“He is a weird unit,” said Lund.

“Luckily our interview was good but I knew he was on tenterhooks. He’s a big cat lover and I am a cat lover and so Byron Cooke and Fifi Box were taking the mickey out of me and he was defending me. But he was really odd.

“I’m so passionate about our Facebook page and I thought, ‘Jesse was in the Social Network, awesome.’

“So I said, ‘Jesse, can you just come over for a photo of you standing over our web guy just pointing to Facebook on his screen as if you’re giving him tips?’

“And he just looked at me with this awkward face and he said, ‘There is absolutely no way I’m ever doing that’.

“It completely threw me, so I asked for a fan pic, even though I’m not a fan, and it’s the world’s most awkward photo of me with my arm around him doing a hover arm. It’s hardly even touching him.”

“We interviewed Meat Loaf one time and the guy was just stark raving mad,” said Lund.

“He got hit on the head with a shot put years ago and he’s never been the same since.

“At one stage he threatened Byron Cooke’s life because we kept having to interrupt him. He was going from one tangent to another tangent to another tangent and it was like he was having LSD flashbacks.

“We were just sitting there thinking, ‘We’re on air but we can’t continue chatting about this’.”

Lady Gaga:

“Within five seconds she’d said, ‘fu** you’ to me,” said Lund about an interview with the singer.

“I got her off-side within seconds. I’d already interviewed her a few days before because I was hosting the event at Monster Hall in Sydney.

“I was doing the interview with Fifi (Box) and Fifi said, ‘You’re always so stylish’. And Gaga said, ‘I was hanging out with Donatella Versace and she handed me this (pointing to her clothes).’ And I said, ‘sheesh, name dropper.’ And she just goes, ‘well fu** you.’ And I thought, ‘oh, this is going to be a long 10 minutes’.

“Our team had worked so hard to get her and within seconds I’d been told to ‘fu** off’.

Jules Lund is a media professional who has worked on TV and radio for more than 15 years. And despite chatting to the world’s biggest stars on a daily basis for 2Day FM, he still gets starstruck every now and then.

“Andy (Lee) and I were in Sydney for a U2 concert and we got the call that we could go back and hang with the band at their hotel,” said Lund.

“We had some drinks and cut to about three in the morning and there I was with Andy and a couple of other mates with Bono, eating shoestring fries while sitting on a couch in his room.

“I got in my cab at the end of the night and we said goodbye to Bono and I squealed from the Rocks in Sydney to Bondi.

“I was totally starstruck.”

Jules Lund can be heard weekdays from 6-9am on Sydney’s 2Day FM.
