Jim Jefferies blasts Manu Feildel and Channel 7 after being dumped from Australia’s Got Talent

US-based Aussie comedian Jim Jefferies has blasted Channel 7, Manu Feildel and Australia’s Got Talent in an explosive radio interview.

Jim Jefferies blasts Manu Feildel in live radio rant

Jim Jefferies spent almost three minutes slamming Channel 7 and Australia’s Got Talent on Triple M after revealing he was dumped from the show.

The US-based Aussie comedian, late night TV star and political commentator said he was approached to be a judge on the competitive reality show, but the network suddenly went silent on his offer.

While the official panel is yet to be announced for the 2021 season, Jefferies is certain celebrity chef Manu Feildel took his spot.

Speaking to Mick Molloy on Triple M’s drive show, Jefferies, who is in Australia touring his comedy show, explained exactly how the interaction with the network went down, later dragging Feildel into the fiery rant.

“Originally I was coming out to Australia because I was being hired as a judge on Australia’s Got Talent, he began.

“They kept on d**king me around and going ‘Oh the offer’s coming’ … I had a schedule and everything like that, I knew who the other hosts were, and then I just didn’t hear anything,” he said.

Having not heard from Channel 7 about the judge position, he said he arranged to tour his comedy show instead, deciding when he got here to check up on the mysterious offer.

“For sh*ts and giggles I thought ‘Why don’t I check if I’ve still got that job’ and they go, ‘We’ve decided to go another way,’” he said.

He went on to criticise the show’s rehearsal schedule and share alleged conversations he had with producers before their radio silence.

“First of all, when you’re doing Australia’s Got Talent they send you a list of the things you have to do. One of the things is a week of rehearsal … to do what? To go there’s the buzzer, there’s the golden buzzer. You use the golden buzzer once, you use the other one several times. Try not to swear and enjoy yourself. Right, that’s all you’ve got to do?” he questioned as Molloy fell into fits of laughter.

He then claimed he offered to link the show up with a massive star to appear on the judging panel, which Channel 7 allegedly turned down.

“At one stage they had no judges and they said to me, ‘Have you got any ideas?’ so I actually pitched to them Kerry King from [thrash metal band] Slayer who I’m friends with, and I thought that’s probably not a thing they’d go for.

“That night, I was having dinner with John Cleese and I said John Cleese would do it and they went, ‘No.’ I don’t know why? Obviously the guy doesn’t have enough credits what with writing Oscar-winning films and being a member of Monty Python.’”

My Kitchen Rules star Manu Feildel was not safe from his stunning sledge either.

“For my spot they’ve got a French chef! I hear he’s a big deal in Australia … I would trust him if the bloke was judging food, but he’s judging entertainment.

“If you had me on a cooking show, eventually people would go, ‘I don’t think he should be judging this, he’s not qualified.’ Like, does this guy look at the performances and go: ‘It could do with a bit more salt,’” he added with a mock French accent.

“I lived in Britain for 10 years and I’ve gigged all over Europe. I’ve gigged in Italy, I’ve gigged in Germany, I’ve gigged in Spain. I’ve gigged everywhere … The only place that doesn’t want English-speaking comedians? France. They’re not a funny bunch of people.

“(So) what happens in Australia’s Got Talent? ‘Oh, and in the final, we have three mimes again. Thank god we have the French chef,’” he said.

Channel 7 declined to comment when contacted by news.com.au.

According to TV Tonight, casting is currently under way for Australia’s Got Talent, with Ricki-Lee Coulter confirmed as host.

Judges are yet to be announced.
