Jess Eva has opened up about a recent miscarriage in an emotional on-air segment this morning.

The co-host of Triple M Breakfast with MG, Jess and Pagey broke down during Tuesday’s show as she revealed she had finally fallen pregnant late last year after “a long time” trying.

But just a few short weeks later, the 37-year-old former The Block star and her husband, Norm Hogan, lost the baby while they were in isolation suffering from Covid-19.

“I wasn’t going to talk about it but I feel like something positive needs to come of it,” Eva began.

“Over the Christmas holidays, we were very blessed and something we wanted for a very long time … Norm and I found out we were pregnant.

“And then when I was in lockdown with Covid, on the Wednesday not last week but the week before, I finished the show and I started bleeding.

“Unfortunately, when I was in lockdown I lost the baby on the Wednesday afternoon.”

A distraught Eva called her doctor to find out if she could go to hospital to see if there was “anything” they could do to help.

“It was so early on (in the pregnancy) and because we had Covid I said, ‘Can I go to hospital? Is there something I can do?’,” Eva recalled.

“And they just said, with Covid you have to stay home and at that point, it was too late anyway.”

Eva, who has two children with Norm – Fred, 6, and Matilda, 2 – said she felt compelled to talk about it to help others going through the same thing.

“It is so common, especially in early pregnancies, and you haven’t told many people yet,” she said.

“People just think maybe you’re hormonal, and you don’t know whether you should tell people and you don’t have that support, and I thought, ‘Bugger it, I’m going to tell everybody.’ Because then you can be yourself and people understand that if you start crying all of a sudden … You’re not drunk.”

Her co-host, former NRL great Mark Geyer, told Eva she was “so brave” to speak about her heartbreak on-air.

“Myself and Pagey knew about this, and when you said you wanted to talk about it I thought how brave you are, because a lot of families listening have gone through exactly what you’ve gone through,” Geyer said.

“If you share your grief or your pain, it minimises it slightly.”
