Jackie O walks out of Kiis FM radio show after on-air spat with Kyle Sandilands
YESTERDAY Jackie O stormed out of the Kiis FM studio after an on-air spat with Kyle Sandilands. So is this the beginning of the end for Kyle and Jackie O?
KYLE and Jackie O have laughed off yesterday’s on-air argument which resulted in Jackie O walking out on their breakfast radio show less than forty minutes after it started.
It was business as usual this morning with Jackie O back on air alongside Sandilands as the duo addressed the spat.
“It wasn’t anything that we could really go into but we did have a pretty big blue off the air,” Jackie O said this morning.
“Kyle and I, we’ve worked together for 14 years now and I think we’ve probably had … three fights and that was the third one.
“Kyle and I, our standoff doesn’t last very long, we get over it pretty quick.”
Sandilands was forced to host the Kiis FM breakfast show solo yesterday after Jackie O left in a huff following a heated argument, part of which was heard on air.
“The worst part about it was that I was out the front of the building and it’s dark still … and I had left my phone and my car keys in the studio,” Jackie O said today.
“There are no cabs in North Ryde I had discovered. It was freezing and dark and I was in the middle of nowhere.”
Jackie O spent more than an hour and a half wandering the streets before she eventually found a cab to take her home.
The on-air spat started yesterday just after 6am when Jackie O had a go at Sandilands for chucking a sickie last week.
“You left everyone high and dry on Friday,” a frustrated Jackie O said.
“If you vomited in the car I don’t think you’d come to work either,” Sandilands said.
The two exchanged words, with a defensive Sandilands then asking Jackie O, “Have you got the sh**s or something?”
“A little bit,” she admitted.
“I’m happy to go home again,” Sandilands said, “I don’t have to put up with this”.
“You’re always sick on a Friday,” Jackie O said, “I’m putting it out there”.
A dismissive Sandilands responded with, “Too bad for you”.
Tensions were clearly running high behind the scenes, with several prerecorded segments then airing before Sandilands came back on air 40 minutes later to announce that Jackie O had walked out.
“In the spirit of transparency I’d like to let everyone know that Jackie and I, during the news, have had an argument and Jackie’s left,” he said.
“I’m not going to go into why, how, when, who said what, what happened, anything that got flicked around, she’s just not here.”
Sandilands hosted the rest of the show solo with the help of producer Pete Deppeler.
Yesterday’s radio spat comes less than a month after Jackie O criticised Sandilands on air for “ruining” an interview with Cameron Diaz.
The Hollywood star was on the Kiis FM breakfast show to promote her new movie, Sex Tape, but she abruptly ended the interview after a few awkward questions from Sandilands.
“Well that started very well and ended poorly I think, good one Kyle,” said Jackie O after the interview.
“You ruined that interview, sorry to be blunt.
“You brought up Drew Barrymore, her best friend’s drug addiction in the past. And then you brought up Benji (Madden) and we all know how protective Cameron is about her private life.”
The Kyle and Jackie O show is currently the second highest rating FM breakfast radio show in Sydney behind WSFM’s Jonesy and Amanda.
The popular duo defected to Kiis FM last year after more than 10 years at 2Day FM.
