Jack Black blasts Tony Abbott: ‘He sounds like a nutter’
DURING an interview on radio this morning, Black said our PM sounds like “a bit of a nutter” and is “living in the Stone Age”.
JACK Black has joined the backlash on Australia’s position on same-sex marriage, saying our Prime Minister sounds like a “bit of a nutter”.
The Hollywood star was chatting to Dan and Maz on 2Day Hit 104.1 this morning to promote his new show The Brink, in which the characters tackle a different crisis around the world in each season.
When asked if he’d consider bringing the show to Australia to tackle the issue of marriage equality, Black said, “We seem to be focusing more on military coups and scenarios like that,” before offering up his own opinion of Tony Abbott.
“I personally think the guy’s living in the stone ages, though. He’s not seeing the writing on the wall. The movement of the world is heading towards equality for all people, all sexual preferences. Come on, we’re all the same in the end. Who cares what gives you a boner. Really?”
Coalition party MPs voted 66 to 33 not to allow a conscience vote on the issue of marriage equality after being locked inside the party room long into the night on Tuesday.
But the PM defended his party’s position, saying the Liberals didn’t want to “dud” their voters.
The 45-year-old actor again referenced Mr Abbott later in the interview when he was asked if there’s ever going to be a sequel to his 2003 film, School of Rock.
“Do you think the Prime Minister would give us a tax break if we shoot College of Rock there?” said Black to host Dan Debuf.
“At this stage I have no idea what the guy’s thinking,” said the radio personality, “He is frequently seen eating raw onions as if they were apples.
“Yeah, he sounds like a bit of a nutter,” said Black, “a bit of a nutter butter”.
The Brink airs on Tuesdays at 7.30pm AEST on Showcase
