‘I still can’t fathom why’: Wendy Harmer’s shock claim about former co-host and comedian Jamie Dunn
Radio veteran Wendy Harmer has released a new memoir in which she claims her former co-host exposed himself to her.
Radio veteran Wendy Harmer has released a new memoir, Lies My Mirror Told Me, in which she shared some raunchy anecdotes about her time at 2Day FM back in the ‘90s.
Hailed as “a frank, funny, fearless memoir”, the book was released today and in its pages Harmer details what it was like hosting Australia’s biggest breakfast radio show for 11 years alongside comedian Jamie Dunn, 73.
Harmer, 68, claimed that one ongoing prank of Dunn’s was to expose his genitals to her while they were broadcasting live on-air.
“I suspect Jamie was a bit of a naturist,” she writes, as reported by The Age. “I still can’t fathom why he would do it as a gag on radio.”
The seasoned broadcaster said she saw Dunn’s penis “more times” than she “cared to remember”.
The duo’s former co-host, Paul Holmes, also shared his experience in the memoir, saying he never understood the reasoning behind the bizarre prank.
“He’d drop his dacks, exposing his penis, raise his hands in the air and strike a pose,” Holmes claimed.
In a statement to the Sydney Morning Herald, Dunn admitted to exposing himself “once or twice” as a “harmless joke”.
News.com.au has reached out to Dunn for comment.
Like Harmer, Dunn has been a big part of the entertainment world. For more than two decades, he voiced one of Aussie TV’s most successful children’s characters, Agro from Agro’s Cartoon Connection.
Speaking to news.com.au back in 2020, Dunn said he had plans for Agro to star in the movie, which would have pocketed him $17 million.
“I had an idea for a movie for Agro,” he told us. “I made arrangements to meet with John Kirby [from Village Roadshow] who owned Sea World, Movie World, all that. The idea was that the movie would be shot at Movie World, so there were some pluses for him.”
However, the deal fell through and Dunn missed out in a big payday.
“I just didn’t get there [with the script] and in the meantime things change,” Dunn said. “So my $17 million profit just disappeared.”
